At Monday’s Cabinet press briefing, Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre pushed back against the United Workers Party’s public call for a stronger crime-fighting plan, labelling the criticism “disrespectful.” The UWP, through former ministers and candidates Sarah Flood-Beaubrun, Laura Jn Pierre-Noel, and Titus Preville, had held a press conference demanding more decisive government action in the face of escalating crime. Rather than address the substance of those concerns, Pierre chose to go on the offensive. Saint Lucians are watching, and they deserve answers, not deflection.
