Celebrating the Art of Arabic Calligraphy in Sri Lanka
Colombo | 28–29 June 2025
To commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Young Men’s Muslim Association (YMMA), the Arabic Calligraphy Association of Sri Lanka (ACAS), in collaboration with YMMA, successfully hosted a grand Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition in Colombo.
The exhibition was ceremoniously opened by Hon. Dr. Rizvi Salih, M.P., Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka. Distinguished guests who delivered speeches at the opening ceremony included:

🔸 Mr. Amhar Shafreef, National President of ACYMMAC
🔸 Mr. M. Ashroff Rumi, Chairman of the 75th Anniversary Celebrations
With dedication and vision, Ash-Sheikh Faheem Naleemi served as the coordinator of this vibrant celebration of Islamic art. The exhibition featured:
✔️ The creative works of 15 students from Colombo schools
✔️ A group of aspiring calligraphers from Arabic colleges
✔️ Masterpieces by five renowned ACAS calligraphers:

Absul Hameed Ameer Faisal
Ash Sheikh Abdul Naseer Mohamed Junaid (Naleemi)
Ash Sheikh Sammoon Majeem (Yusofi)
Ash Sheikh Nisardeen Mohamed Silmy (Noori)
The exhibition beautifully blended classical and contemporary styles of Arabic calligraphy, offering a deeply spiritual and artistic experience for all visitors.
The event drew a wide audience, including art lovers, guests, the general public, and YMMA members from across the island. It served not only as a celebration of cultural heritage but also as a platform to inspire and empower the next generation of calligraphy artists.
