කෝට්ටේ දිය කැපීමේ මංගල්‍යය ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය බෞද්ධ සංස්කෘතිය හා පාරම්පරික චාරිත්‍ර සමඟ බැඳුණු වැදගත් සංස්කෘතික අවස්ථාවකි. 🙏

පෙරහැර හා ආගමික වතාවත්වලින් අනතුරුව සිදුකරන දිය කැපීමේ චාරිත්‍රය, පාරම්පරික විශ්වාසයන් තුළ පිරිසිදුකම, ආශිර්වාදය සහ නව ආරම්භයක් සංකේතවත් කරන චාරිත්‍රයක් ලෙස සැලකේ.

කෝට්ටේ රාජධානියේ ඉතිහාසයත්, බෞද්ධ උරුමයත් සමඟ බැඳුණු මෙවැනි සම්ප්‍රදායන් අපේ වටිනා සංස්කෘතික උරුමයේ කොටසකි. 🌿

The Kotte Diya Kepima Ceremony is a meaningful cultural tradition connected with Sri Lanka’s Buddhist heritage and traditional customs. 🙏

Following the procession and religious observances, the traditional water-cutting ceremony is performed. It is traditionally regarded as a symbol of purification, blessings, and a new beginning.

Such traditions reflect the rich history, Buddhist heritage, and cultural identity of the historic Kotte area. 🌿

🛕 ශ්‍රී දළදා මාළිගාව – මහනුවර 🇱🇰

මහනුවර ශ්‍රී දළදා මාළිගාව ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ බෞද්ධ ජනතාවගේ අතිශය පූජනීය ස්ථානයකි. මෙහි බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගේ ශ්‍රී දන්ත ධාතූන් වහන්සේ වැඩ සිටින අතර, එය ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය බෞද්ධ ඉතිහාසයේ හා රාජකීය උරුමයේ සුවිශේෂී සංකේතයක් ලෙස සැලකේ.

දන්ත ධාතූන් වහන්සේ ක්‍රි.ව. 4 වන සියවසේදී ඉන්දියාවේ සිට ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට වැඩම කරවූ බව ඉතිහාසයේ සඳහන් වේ. රාජධානියෙන් රාජධානියට මාරුවෙමින් පැමිණි දළදා වහන්සේ අවසානයේ මහනුවර රාජධානියේ ස්ථාපිත විය. මහනුවර 1592දී ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ අවසන් සිංහල රාජධානියේ අගනුවර බවට පත්විය.

වර්තමාන දළදා මාළිගා සංකීර්ණයේ ගොඩනැගිලි විශාල වශයෙන් කීර්ති ශ්‍රී රාජසිංහ රජුගේ සමයේ සංවර්ධනය වූ අතර, දළදා මාළිගාව සහ රාජ මාලිගය එකිනෙකට සම්බන්ධ වූ සුවිශේෂී ඓතිහාසික නිර්මාණයක් ලෙස සැලකේ.

මහනුවර පූජනීය නගරය 1988 වසරේ UNESCO ලෝක උරුමයක් ලෙස නම් කරන ලදී. අදත් වාර්ෂික ඇසළ පෙරහැර ඇතුළු ආගමික චාරිත්‍ර තුළින් දළදා වහන්සේට ගෞරව පුද කරමින් මෙම උතුම් උරුමය පවත්වාගෙන යයි.

🛕 Sri Dalada Maligawa – Kandy 🇱🇰

The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, commonly known as Sri Dalada Maligawa, is one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in Sri Lanka. It enshrines the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha and stands as an important symbol of Sri Lanka’s Buddhist, cultural and royal heritage.

According to historical tradition, the Sacred Tooth Relic was brought to Sri Lanka from India in the 4th century AD. It was carried with the royal court as the capital of Sri Lanka changed from one kingdom to another, eventually becoming enshrined in Kandy, the last capital of the Sinhala kings.

The present Temple of the Tooth forms part of the historic royal complex of Kandy, with much of its present form associated with the reign of King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe. Kandy was the last royal capital of Sri Lanka until the British occupation in 1815.

The Sacred City of Kandy was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988, recognising its outstanding cultural and religious importance. The annual Esala Perahera continues to showcase the living traditions surrounding the Sacred Tooth Relic.

❤️ අපේ රටේ පැරණිම උරුමයක සජීවී මතකයක්…

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ආදිවාසී වැදි ජනතාව අපේ රටේ පැරණිතම සංස්කෘතික උරුමයන්ගෙන් එකක් නියෝජනය කරයි.

ඔවුන්ගේ සරල ජීවන රටාව, පරම්පරාවෙන් පරම්පරාවට පැවත එන සාම්ප්‍රදායික දැනුම, සිරිත් විරිත් සහ ස්වභාවධර්මය සමඟ ඇති සමීප බැඳීම ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ඉතිහාසයේ වටිනා කොටසකි.

අද අපට දැකගත හැකි මෙවැනි දසුන්, අපේ පැරණි සංස්කෘතිය හා උරුමය අමතක නොකර අනාගත පරපුරටත් රැකගත යුතු බව මතක් කර දෙයි.

The Vedda people, the indigenous community of Sri Lanka, represent one of the island’s oldest cultural heritages.

Their simple way of life, traditional knowledge, customs passed down through generations, and close relationship with nature are an important part of Sri Lanka’s rich history and cultural heritage.

Scenes like this remind us of the importance of preserving our traditional heritage and passing it on to future generations.
