We’ve been waiting to show you this one!

We wanted Gemlogue to feel different from the usual event campaign, and it’s been quite a ride.

From the very first idea to the final shot, there was a lot happening.

A lot of ideas. A lot of running around. A lot of “wait, what if we do this instead?” and plenty of “Cut 🎬, let’s try that again” moments. 😄

At the heart of it was one simple idea.

Ceylon Gemlogue is more than an event about gems. It’s about celebrating where they come from. The people, the craft, the stories, the culture and the Sri Lanka we know. Warm, welcoming, beautiful and full of little surprises.

Bringing that feeling to life was no small task.

That’s where Ashan Dias came in. He understood the idea from the very beginning and had an incredible way of taking a concept and turning it into something you can actually feel.

Here’s a little BTS from one heck of a journey.

And it’s still not over.

At Ceylon Gemlogue 2025, Mr. Altaf Iqbal, Director of Regal Gems, shared an important perspective on the need to bring more young people into Sri Lanka’s gem and jewellery industry.

As the source country for some of the world’s most coveted gemstones, Sri Lanka is home to generations of expertise in rough stones, cutting, heating and the many crafts that make our industry unique.

But knowledge only becomes a legacy when it is passed on.

Ceylon Gemlogue aims to create a space where the experience of the established generation meets the ambition of the next, encouraging young people to discover the opportunities within this remarkable industry and helping ensure that Sri Lanka’s gem heritage continues to thrive for generations to come.

Sri Lanka has something most gem nations dream of:

A geological inheritance that has produced gemstones for centuries.

But having the resource is one thing. Understanding it is another.

Ask Sri Lankans about gemstones and we can tell you a thousand stories.

Stories of miners. Of Ratnapura. Of the blue sapphires sought by royalty. Of stones that travelled from our island to the world’s greatest jewellery houses.

But there is also another story! One written much much deeper.

The story of how these gems came to exist here in the first place. Because, before there is a gemstone in a jeweller’s case, there is a geological story behind it to begin with.

And that is the conversation Peter Lyckberg brings to Ceylon Gemlogue.

Peter Lyckberg has spent decades travelling to some of the world’s important mineral and gem deposits, studying them in the field and documenting the geology, mineralogy and processes behind their formation. His work spans numerous countries and includes extensive research and publications on gem-bearing deposits.

And for Sri Lanka, that perspective is invaluable.

Because if we want the world to understand Ceylon as a source, we must understand our geology, our deposits and our geological heritage with the same depth with which the world understands our stones.

Peter doesn’t come to Sri Lanka simply to talk about gems.

He comes with a question that takes us much deeper:

What can the earth itself tell us about the future of Ceylon gems?
