Here are some must-know facts about the magnificent Sigiriya:
🏰 History: It was established as a royal kingdom by King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD.
💧 Water Gardens: One of the oldest landscaped gardens in the world. Remarkably, the gravity-fed fountains still work during rainy days even today!
✍️ Mirror Wall: In ancient times, this wall was polished so well that the King could see his own reflection. The Sigiri Graffiti written on it provides a deep look into ancient literature.
🦁 Lion’s Paws: The massive lion paws at the entrance are the remaining parts of a giant lion statue that once guarded the path to the summit.
🧗 The Climb: You need to climb approximately 1,200 steps to reach the top of the rock.
