The initial idea of setting up a system to help youth find better jobs, was always a dream for Mr. Upali Warnakulasuriya since his younger days. From the onset of his professional career, he had to go through several hardships to secure a job despite being academically qualified. He had soon realized that having a state university degree does not guarantee being selected by an interview panel.
Years later in 2019, he discussed his professional journey of becoming a CEO from a farmerโs son with a fresh graduate named Osanda, who is also very futuristic and loves to think out of the box. It was during this session of experience sharing, they both identified that the need to have a supporting and coaching system to our graduates is now more important than ever. The conversation turned very interesting when they realized the potential and reach of such an idea through an online platform.
With the boosted excitement, and seeing a pathway to achieve his lifelong dream, Mr. Upali Warnakulasuriya laid the foundation for starting โLanka Talentsโ. However even though both Osanda and Mr. Warnakulasuriya were very interested in the concept, in reality they could not devote so much for this project, as they both were fully occupied with other jobs.
Thereafter, almost after another one year, during the pandemic of COVID-19, they were blessed with the luxury of free time to focus on this concept. And purely on gut feeling, Mr. Warnakulasuriya believed that now is the perfect time to build on his initial idea. With this decision, enters our third partner, Sammani. Her specialty was HR and she shared the same passion towards building a system that could help others in succeeding in life.
When the whole world was in a lockdown state due to Corona pandemic, these three were planning on how to build and innovative and efficient product. That was the official beginning of โLanka Talentsโ, which was in May 2019.
