Today marks ten years since the A350 was put in service. On 15 January, 2015, Qatar Airways, the launch customer, operated the first A350 flight with an A350-900 from Doha to Frankfurt.
Ten years later, the A350 has become one of the most successful Airbus widebody designs and one of the most efficient aircraft in the world, as well as a long range leader. The A350 currently has two variants in service: the A350-900 and A350-1000, while the freighter variant, the A350F is currently in production with first delivery expected for 2026.
Total orders for the A350 program currently stand at 1,344, of which 642 have been delivered since the first handover in late 2014.
Customers ordered 142 A350s across all variants last year, making 2024 the year with the second most orders for the A350 so far in the 2020s, second only to 2023 which saw the largest number of orders placed for the A350 in a year; there were orders for 281 A350s that year.So far since the year began, there has been an order for 5 more A350Fs from Taiwanese all-Airbus carrier Starlux Airlines which placed its first order for the A350F last year for 5 A350Fs.
