Sri Lanka just took a real step from talking about AI to putting it in people’s hands.

At today’s launch of Sri Lanka AI Week 2026 (“AI Amplified” — Sept 28 to Oct 4), SLT Mobitel CEO Riaz Rasheed didn’t just preview the week he announced Smart AI, the country’s first AI tokenization platform. It lets anyone buy AI credits directly through SLT Mobitel, cutting out the global payment barriers (forex cards, subscriptions in foreign currency) that have kept a lot of students, creators, and small businesses locked out of tools they should already have access to.

At the 7th Youth Top40 Awards 2026, Rasal Jayasinghe was presented with the AI Innovation Advocate of the Year Award in recognition of his contributions to advancing AI adoption, education, and community-driven innovation in Sri Lanka.

Serving as the Cursor Ambassador for Sri Lanka and Founder of TechTalk360, Rasal continues to empower developers, students, and emerging builders through large-scale technology initiatives, educational experiences, and platforms that make artificial intelligence more accessible to the wider community.

His work reflects a continued commitment to strengthening Sri Lanka’s AI ecosystem and inspiring the next generation to build, innovate, and create with emerging technologies.

Cursor Meetup: The Builder Series.

We brought together some of Sri Lanka’s most ambitious student builders to showcase what they had continued building after the hackathon.

Over 300+ builders, founders, mentors, and industry leaders came together to watch 12 startup teams pitch their progress, receive honest feedback, answer tough questions, and take another step toward turning prototypes into real companies.

Because the best hackathons shouldn’t end when the timer hits zero.

A huge thank you to every builder who stepped on stage, every audience member who challenged ideas, and every mentor who shared their experience. This is exactly how stronger startups and stronger communities—are built.
