🌿 About this space
Welcome to Agwe Villa — a rare antique Sri Lankan home set within a large private tropical garden, just a short walk from the beach near Hikkaduwa.
This is a historic two-storey villa (circa 1880), lovingly maintained to preserve its original charm and authentic character. If you are looking for a peaceful, private stay surrounded by nature and local village life, this is the perfect place.

🛏 Sleeping
There are 4 bedrooms:
Upstairs:
Two spacious super-king bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms. Both rooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans and private balconies overlooking the garden.
Downstairs:
One family room with a queen-size bed and a single bed, plus an adjoining children’s room with an additional single bed. Ceiling fans and natural ventilation keep the space comfortable.
We can rearrange beds upstairs if needed — just let us know before arrival.
🏡 The space
Agwe Villa is not a modern luxury villa — it is a character-filled heritage home.
Original antique doors and shutters, old teak upstairs flooring and handcrafted furniture give the house its warm, rustic feeling. Downstairs features cool concrete flooring and open living spaces.
The ground floor includes:
• Lounge with large sofa
• Dining area
• Fully equipped kitchen (fridge/freezer, oven, cooker, utensils, crockery and cutlery)
Upstairs you’ll find a large balcony and outdoor living space — a perfect place to relax, read, work remotely or enjoy the sounds of birds and distant ocean waves.
👩🍳 Cleaning & Cooking
I personally take care of the villa and warmly welcome all guests.
Daily housekeeping is included so you can relax and enjoy your stay.
If you would like, I am happy to prepare traditional Sri Lankan meals for you during your stay. I specialise in authentic local curries and can also prepare Western favourites. Just let me know your preferences in advance.
Guests are also welcome to use the kitchen for self-catering.

We are located in Dodanduwa, a traditional coastal fishing village.
• Short walk to the local beach
• Close to Rathgama Lake
• 5 minutes by tuk-tuk to Hikkaduwa & Narigama
• Easy access to surf spots, snorkelling and diving
• 20 minutes to Galle Fort
Nearby you’ll find cafés, restaurants, beach bars and fresh seafood markets.
This is real village life — you may hear children going to school, temple bells, weddings or celebrations. Occasionally friendly neighbourhood dogs may visit.
Nature is part of the experience here. You may see birds, butterflies, lizards and other tropical wildlife around the garden.
🔐 Security & Privacy
The villa is fully private with front and rear walls and garden fencing.
There is a safe inside the house and external CCTV for added security.
A caretaker can assist with tuk-tuks and local transport if needed.
⚡ Electricity & Air Conditioning
The upstairs bedrooms are air-conditioned. Downstairs has ceiling fans and natural ventilation designed to keep the house cool.
We encourage mindful use of electricity, especially air-conditioning, to respect the environment.
