🟠 Pigeon Island, one of the two marine park islands in Sri Lanka, is located about 1.2 nautical miles off the coast of Nilaveli.

🟠 The total area of this island is about 471.4 hectares.

🟠 It is named Pigeon Island because hundreds of blue rock pigeons, native to Sri Lanka, live on this island.

🟠 Pigeon Island has become very popular among local tourists and foreigners because it is one of the best places in Sri Lanka for diving, viewing coral reefs, and watching sea fish. You can also see a large number of sea creatures like turtles and sharks when you go here.

🟠 If you are looking to go snorkeling, you can get all the necessary life jackets and other equipment from the boats for a small fee.
