ජාතික තරුණ දිනය අදට (23) යෙදී තිබේ.

1983 මැයි 23 වන දින ශ්‍රී ලංකා යෞවන සමාජ සම්මේලනය ආරම්භ කිරීමත් සමඟ ජාතික තරුණ දිනයක් ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කෙරෙණි. එයරට පුරා යෞවන සමාජ මට්ටමින් විවිධ වැඩ සටහන් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරමින් වාර්ෂිකව සමරයි.

ශ්‍රි ලංකා යෞවන සමාජ සම්මේලනය පිහිට වූ මේ ඓතිහාසික දිනය හේතුපාදක කරගනිමින් වර්ෂ 1999 මැයි 23 දින ශ්‍රි ලංකාවේ තරුණ දිනය ලෙස මැයි 23 දිනය ප්‍රකාශයට පත්කරන ලදී .
