Nutrition Health Camp | පෝෂණ සෞක්ය කඳවුර | Department of Nutrition and Dietetics
The Nutrition Health Camp, organized by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, was successfully held on 3 June 2026 at the Faculty of Livestock, Fisheries and Nutrition (FLFN) premises as part of the 3rd-year students’ Community Link (LinkCom) course module (LFN 2122). The event was conducted in celebration of Nutrition Month 2026 and served as a key outreach initiative of the Nutri Wellness Centre. The primary objective of the programme was to raise awareness of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among the public while providing comprehensive nutritional assessments and personalized nutrition counselling. Through this initiative, participants were empowered with practical knowledge and guidance to improve their health and well-being. The Health Camp also provided invaluable real-world exposure for students specializing in Nutrition and Dietetics, allowing them to take leadership and to engage directly with community members and gain hands-on experience in addressing public health nutrition concerns. The event fostered meaningful, educational, and enjoyable interactions between students and the public, strengthening their professional competencies and community engagement skills. Furthermore, the programme reinforced the Department’s commitment to promoting health and wellness within the university and surrounding communities. It also highlighted the Nutri Wellness Centre as a growing beacon of health promotion and nutrition excellence in the Makandura area, further enhancing its visibility and impact within the wider community.
