Breaking away from the sterile, monotonous nature of conventional office design, this IT office in Anuradhapura redefines the work environment through warmth, greenery, and homelike comfort. The architectural intent was to blur the boundaries between a professional workplace and a personal sanctuary β€” creating a space where employees feel at ease, inspired, and connected to nature.

From Conventional House to Tropical Sanctuary; a home reborn on 7.2 Perches. 🏠✨🌴

By: ICONCAST Chartered Architects

A transformed urban home on a tight 7.2 perch land in Mt. Lavinia, Sri Lanka; this home reimagines family living in a tropical setting. Designed for a family of three, the renovation breathes new life into an existing two-story structure.

Lush greenery, natural materials and tactile textures read with clean lines to form a biophilic design. Light, breeze, and foliage flow seamlessly through carefully planned compact spaces. The home feels both grounded and uplifting; an oasis in the city that celebrates tropical living with privacy, light, and connection.

Swasti by Deearth Architects πŸƒπŸ₯€

Tucked away in the verdant landscapes of Kerala, Swasthi stands as a striking reinterpretation of traditional architecture for modern living. This residence seamlessly blends the timeless charm of Kerala’s vernacular style with contemporary sensibilities.

Using locally sourced materials and age-old techniquesβ€”like clay tile-pitched roofs and exposed laterite wallsβ€”Swasthi embraces its roots while introducing clean lines and minimalist forms. The design becomes a poetic dialogue between heritage and innovation, where the spirit of the past is elegantly refracted through a modern lens.

Personalized House πŸ₯€πŸ‘ in Jakartha, Indonesia.

Architects: Gets Architects
Area: 1030 m2

One of the client's foremost requests for the Steric Spes was a house that offers both shade and seclusion, without compromising natural light and airflow. Situated on a west-facing site, the design responds to the brief with a nuanced and responsive facade: a secondary skin of cream-colored fiber-cement breeze-block, which is composed of a grid-like pattern across the house. This permeable facade filters harsh western sunlight while facilitating air circulation throughout the house by acting as a protective veil. Moreover, it screens from the surrounding urban context and also creates a private space that is further set back to achieve a sense of retreat and calmness.

Material continuity and tectonic coherence are essential to the architectural language of the Steric Spes. The cream-colored fiber-cement breeze-block elements continue across the upper three levels, forming volumes that are stacked and shifted, each leaning toward the right side. Not only does this dynamic composition allow 90% of the house to remain detached from the neighboring structure, but it also enhances the sense of interplay while maintaining formal cohesion.

The result is a house that breathes, maintaining thermal comfort and luminosity with an ever-changing shadowplay throughout the day. Moreover, many areas are shaded by cantilevered 'canopies' as a result of the right-leaning stacked massing above on each level. Aesthetically, the perceived lightness of the upper three volumes is accentuated through the deliberate use of contrast materials and color at the base.

TARA HOUSE | 𝘈 𝘨𝘒𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘒𝘳𝘡π˜ͺ𝘴𝘡π˜ͺ𝘀 𝘭π˜ͺ𝘷π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 πŸ‚πŸ

By: MMGS Architects |

Description: Designed by Godridge and Shan, a father and son combination, the Tara House is a 3-storey residential building sited in Nawala, a suburb of Colombo, on an 8 perch land (200sqm). This home was designed for Lavan Sornarajah, a Sri Lankan born British Citizen with a dual citizenship who had engaged with us previously for the award-winning renovation of the studio apartment.
The house is structured as two cuboids, with a less voluminous centre divide. The main spaces are conceived within the cuboids and connecting spaces within the divide where the rear of the residence faces the open marshes of Nawala.

Upon entering the house, one walks directly into the open pavilion and is instantly absorbed by the view across the semi-outdoor pavilion. The central pavilion floor is finished with β€œboralu” stones that inherits a sense of the outdoors within an indoor space. The rawness of the steel structure and exposed brick faΓ§ade adds to this vivacious play and combines with the breath-taking views to amalgamate the home into a relaxing space.

The design pays tribute to the rugged earthiness of the surroundings through the use of exposed brick supported by a steel structure. The rear face of the dwelling faces views of the open marsh maintaining a romantic visual relationship with its natural environment at every level through the use of large steel framed windows and open floor plans.

Description : The site located in a leafy suburb with detached houses in Bangalore is south-facing with two sausage trees on the footpath abutting the road. The positioning of the building and its internal zoning were dictated by these trees and the site orientation. A direct relationship between the inside and outside of the house is established due to two longitudinal zones of spaces located in the east and west.

The zone on the west houses the programs that need enclosure and privacy while the zone on the east is predominantly open allowing for axial connection from the rear of the house to the front.Β  The eastern zone is sectionally modulated to allow for lateral connection between various levels of the house.
