😴 Sedation vs General Anesthesia – What’s the Difference?
Many people get confused between sedation and general anesthesia.
Here’s a simple explanation 👇
💤 Sedation (Relaxed & Calm)
• Patient feels sleepy and relaxed
• May be awake or lightly asleep
• Can sometimes respond to instructions
• Used for minor procedures (endoscopy, dental work)
😴 General Anesthesia (Deep Sleep)
• Patient is in a deep unconscious state
• No awareness or memory of surgery
• Breathing may be supported by machines
• Used for major surgeries
🩺 Key Difference:
Sedation = Relaxed / Light sleep
General anesthesia = Deep sleep (completely unconscious)
💙 Doctors choose the safest method based on the procedure and patient condition.
