ශ්‍රී ලංකා විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය ක්‍රීඩා තරගාවලියේ සැමගේ අවධානය දිනාගත් ආකර්ෂණීය තරග ඉසව්වක් ඊයේ (03) දිනයේදී නිමාවට පත් වූයේ ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය එම ඉසව්වෙහි අනුශූරයින් බවට පත් කරමිනි. මහනුවර නිත්තවෙල ක්‍රීඩාංගණයේදී පැවති මෙම රග්බි අවසන් මහා තරගයේදී කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයට එරෙහිව ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය තරග බිමට පිවිසියේ නිමා වූ අන්තර් විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය ක්‍රීඩා තරගාවලියේදී අහිමි වූ ශූරතාවය කෙසේ හෝ තමන් සතු කරගැනීමේ අදහසින් මෙන්ම තමන් සතුව ඇති SLUG රග්බි ශූරතාවය කෙසේ හෝ ආරක්ෂා කරගැනීමේ අදිටනිනි.

වේගය, ශක්තිය, දක්ෂතාවය කැටි කොටගත් දෙපිලම තරගයේ ආරම්භක මොහොතේ සිටම කරට කර තරගයක නියැලිණි. කෙසේ නමුත් තරගයේ දෙවන මිනිත්තුව තුළදීම ජ'පුර කණ්ඩායමට දඬුවම් පහර අවස්ථාවක් හිමි වූ අතර, එය සාර්ථක කරගනිමින් ඔවුහු ලකුණු රැස් කිරීම ආරම්භ කළෝය. තරගයේ පළමු උත්සාහක දිනුම් අවස්ථාව වාර්තා කළේ කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය කණ්ඩායමයි. එසේම එහි ප්‍රවර්තනයද සාර්ථක කර ගැනීමට ඔවුහු සමත් වූහ. තරගය තව තවත් උණුසුම් වන විට කොළඹ ක්‍රීඩකයෝ තම දෙවන උත්සාහක දිනුම් අවස්ථාවද සාර්ථක කර ගත් අතර එහි ප්‍රවර්තනයද සාර්ථක කරගත්හ. ඉන්පසු නැවතත් ක්‍රියාත්මක වූ කොළඹ ක්‍රීඩකයින් පළමු අර්ධය අවසානයට මොහොතකට පෙර තවත් උත්සාහක දිනුම් අවස්ථාවක් ලබා ගත්තේ ලකුණු 21 - 3ක් ලෙස පළමු අර්ධයේ වැඩි ගෞරව හිමිකර ගනිමිනි.

දෙවන අර්ධයද ආරම්භයේ පටන්ම උණුසුම් මුහුණුවරක් ගත් අතර, තම විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයට ශූරතාවය රැගෙන යාම වෙනුවෙන් දෙපිලම දැඩි සටනක නිරත විය. මේ අතරතුරදී ජ'පුර කණ්ඩායම වෙනුවෙන් පළමු උත්සාහක දිනුම වාර්තා කිරීමට හසිත මෙත්තානන්ද සමත් වූ අතර එහි ප්‍රවර්තනය සාර්ථක කර ගැනීමට ඔවුහු අපොහොසත් වූහ. ඉන්පසු නැවතත් ක්‍රියාත්මක වූ කොළඹ ක්‍රීඩකයෝ තම සිවුවන උත්සාහක දිනුමද වාර්තා කළ අතර එහි ප්‍රවර්තනයද සාර්ථක කර ගත්හ. අවසන් මොහොත දක්වා තරගය අත් නොහැරි ජ'පුර ක්‍රීඩක දිල්ශාන් පීරිස් ජ'පුර කණ්ඩායමේ දෙවන උත්සාහක දිනුම වාර්තා කළ අතර එහි ප්‍රවර්තනයද සාර්ථක කරගැනීමට ඔවුහු සමත් වූහ. තරගයේ අවසාන මොහොතේදී කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය කණ්ඩායම තවත් උත්සාහක දිනුමක් වාර්තා කළ අතර එහි ප්‍රවර්තනය අසාර්ථක විය. ඒ අනුව තරගය අවසන් වූයේ ලකුණු 15 - 33ක් ලෙසින් ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය කණ්ඩායමට අනුශූරතාවය හිමිකරදෙමිනි.

කෙසේ නමුත් මෙලෙස 2025 SLUG රග්බි අනුශූරතාවය දිනාගනිමින් ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයට ගෞරවයක් අත්කර දීමට දිවා රෑ නොබලා කැපවූ ජ'පුර රග්බි කණ්ඩායමට විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය ප්‍රජාව වෙනුවෙන් J'pura Flames අපි උණුසුම් සුබ පැතුම් එක්කර සිටින්නෙමු.
