Coffee History

The earliest Credible evidence of coffee drinking 15th century in Yemen, In Sufi monasteries to stay awake for their religious rituals.
Coffee beans were Frist exported from Ethiopia to Yemen and Yemenis began to cultivate coffee.
By the 16th century,it had reached the rest of the Middle East,Persia,Turkey,Horn of Africa,and Northern Africa.
Smuggled coffee seeds out of the Middle east.by Sufi Baba Busan from Yemen to the Indian subcontinet in 1670.
Before then,all exported coffee was boiled or otherwise sterilized...

The Legend of Sheikh Omar – Yemen

Another famous legend comes from Yemen, especially the port city of Mocha, which later became a major coffee trading center.

Sheikh Omar was known as a healer and spiritual man. According to legend, he was exiled to a desert cave. While searching for food, he found bright red berries from a tree.

He tried eating them but found them too bitter.

He roasted the seeds and boiled them in water.

The result was a dark drink that gave him strength and energy.
When people heard about the drink and its benefits, Omar was welcomed back to Mocha. The story says that coffee began spreading among Sufi monks, who drank it to stay awake during long night prayers...
