Yala teaches patience.

Not because animals are rare,
but because presence is.

If you arrive chasing the leopard,
you’ll miss the birds,
the patterns in the dust,
the way elephants move like memory.

We stopped often.
Listened to a guide who knows when not to speak.

And because of that,
the leopard came.
The bear crossed our path.
The day unfolded instead of being taken from it.

This is how I travel,
less proving, more noticing.
Fewer plans, better days.

Yala isn’t something you do.
It’s something you’re allowed into.

Leopard sightings in Sri Lanka are never guaranteed…
most travelers never catch one in the open.
But this morning in Yala felt different:
soft light, jungle sounds, and then suddenly… him 🐆
A few seconds of pure, unexpected happiness
in the middle of the jungle 💚

Travel becomes deeper the moment you slow down enough to notice yourself in it.
Move gently.
Let the world meet you where you are.

Most of the noise around travel comes from people who rush.
People who move fast.
People who treat the world as a checklist
and expect you to do the same.

But when you’re someone who feels deeply,
who travels to experience instead of to prove,
that noise can start to pull you away from your own rhythm.

The truth is:
not everyone understands gentle exploration.
Not everyone knows how to sit with a place,
how to listen,
how to soften enough to let a moment change them.

So be careful whose voices you let in.

If you crave slow mornings, quiet beaches, wandering without urgency…
that’s your compass speaking.
If you need time to arrive, breathe, feel —
that’s wisdom, not weakness.

And if the world around you keeps telling you to go faster,
do more, squeeze everything in…
remember:
their pace is not your path.

Your journey becomes clearer the moment you stop rushing
and start listening.
To your body.
To the energy of the place.
To the version of you that only appears
when you finally slow down enough to meet her.

Honor your pace.
It knows where it wants to take you.

Save this for the days you forget. 🤍

Short answer: yes — Colombo is generally safe to walk at night.

But these 5 rules make it easier:

✔️ 1. Stick to main roads — avoid quiet alleys and shortcuts.
✔️ 2. Use PickMe for anything over 1 km (sidewalks are inconsistent).
✔️ 3. Keep your phone low, not held up (navigate discreetly).
✔️ 4. Don’t carry visible valuables or open bags.
✔️ 5. Safest areas at night: Kollupitiya, Galle Face, Colombo Fort (early), and busier main roads.

Save this for your Sri Lanka trip 🌙

Colombo doesn’t try to impress you, it just exists in its own rhythm, and you either learn to follow it or you miss the best parts.

This morning started with the usual mix of warm air, the hum of traffic, and that soft early light that makes every building look a little more romantic than it probably is. I ended up wandering around the city without much of a plan… again. Maybe that’s why I like it here.

Landmarks appear between palm trees.
Temples hide behind corners.
Cafés feel like tiny pauses in the middle of the noise.

Colombo is not polished or predictable, but it’s layered, warm, and strangely comforting once you get used to its rhythm.

I love cities that grow on you slowly, one quiet moment at a time.
And Colombo has plenty of those.

🌴✨ Nusa Penida, Bali 💙

From the famous T-Rex cliffs at Kelingking Beach to manta rays, this island just off Bali is pure magic. Hidden beaches, turquoise waters, cliffside treehouses, and jungle pools… it's one of the wildest and most beautiful places I’ve ever explored.

I’ve put together a full guide with 20 unforgettable things to do in Nusa Penida - plus where to stay, where to eat (hello, beachfront lunch at Lunak Café 😍), and how to get around.

If you're planning a Bali trip soon (or just daydreaming), this one’s for you →
