With all the buzz around Miss World 2025, let’s take a moment to shine a spotlight on some of our incredible Sri Lankan women who’ve slayed the global pageants! 🇱🇰✨

Also, since many of you don’t know history and aren’t journalists, I want to remind you that Sri Lanka has bagged titles at several other international pageants! 🙏🏻👏🏻🥰

Maureen Neliya Hingert — Crowned Miss Ceylon in 1955, she went on to become the Second-Runner-up at Miss Universe 1955, making history as one of our first international queens!

Bernadine Rose Senanayake – The very first Mrs. World, crowned at the inaugural competition.

Caroline Jurie – Won the Mrs. World 2020 title.

Christina Peiris (2017) – Made it to the Top 16 at Miss Universe 2017.

Ishadi Amanda – First Runner-Up at 40th Mrs. World Pageant.

Julia Sonali Kaluarachchi - ‘Face of Asia 2024’ (Female) title at the ‘Asia Model Festival’.

My heartfelt congratulations to for her hard work and dedication and for bringing so much recognition to Sri Lanka on the global stage! 👏🏻🇱🇰🎉😁

Here’s the thing, women should always lift each other up, support one another, and celebrate every win together. Our little island is full of strong, smart, talented, and beautiful women—and beauty pageants are just one of many ways we’re showing the world what we’ve got! 💪👑Remember that it’s not just about looks; it’s also about your intelligence, knowledge, talent, education, courage, and determination. Our queens are proof of that.

Let’s keep supporting our queens and remember everyone who represented our beautiful island nation! 😁🇱🇰👏🏻🎉

Made the cutest friend at the Potala Palace in Lhasa 🥰🇨🇳

This is the iconic Potala Palace in Lhasa, a structure that rises dramatically 425 feet above the Lhasa River valley. This spiritual and administrative complex is a pilgrimage site for Buddhists worldwide, and it’s easy to see why. The palace is home to over a thousand rooms, stunning murals, sacred scrolls, and statues of the Dalai Lamas.

Walking through its ancient halls, lit by butter lamps and watched over by monks, you can feel the deep spiritual significance that resonates throughout the space. Perched atop Marpo Ri Hill in Lhasa, this fortress-like palace is an architectural marvel and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas, the palace is now a museum housing centuries of Tibetan art, relics and history.

The palace is divided into two sections: the White Palace, which served as the Dalai Lama’s residence and administrative hub and the Red Palace, dedicated to religious study and prayer. Wandering through its halls, you’ll come across ancient murals, sculptures, and the tombs of past Dalai Lamas—all radiating an aura of profound spirituality.

Standing here felt like touching history itself. The Potala Palace isn’t just a building; it’s an architectural marvel and gateway to Tibet’s soul.

Truly honoured to have had the opportunity to visit a location of this historic significance! 😍🙏🏻

I don't normally post these but this is deserving of celebration! 👏🏻

Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, the Prime Ministerial candidate from the National People’s Power (NPP) for the 2024 general election, has emerged as the top candidate in the Colombo district, securing over 655,289 preferential votes.
