ශ්රී ලංකාවට සුනාමි තර්ජනයක් තිබෙනවා ද? නේපාල ගංවතුරෙන් බුදු පිළිමය පමණක් බේරුණාද? | Fact Check
සුළු මොහොතකින් මුහුද කැළඹී මුළු ලංකාවම සලිත වන, Tsunami වැනි අවදානමක් තිබෙන බවක් හඟවමින් පසුගිය දිනවල සමාජ මාධ්ය පුරා සටහන් පෙළක් පුවත් වේගයෙන් පැතිර ගියේය. මුහුද පසුබසින බව කියන වීඩියෝවක් ද නේපාලයේ බිහිසුණු හසිදී ගංවතුර තත්වයත් මේ බිය තීව්ර කරන්න හේතු වුණා. ඇත්තට කාලගුණ විද්යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව මෙවැනි “රතු නිවේදනයක්” නිකුත් කර තිබුණා ද?
අප විමර්ශනයේදී හෙළි වූයේ අගෝස්තු 26 නිවේදනය කොළඹ සිට ගාල්ල, මාතර, හම්බන්තොට හරහා පොතුවිල් දක්වා ධීවර කටයුතුවල යෙදෙන ජනතාව සඳහා නිකුත් කළ, මීටර් 2-3ක රළ උස පිළිබඳ සාමාන්ය නිවේදනයක් මිස සුනාමි අනතුරු ඇඟවීමක් නොවන බවයි. එය කාලගුණ විද්යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ හා ආපදා කළමනාකරණ මධ්යස්ථානයේ අධ්යක්ෂවරුන් ද මෙය තහවුරු කළා. මුහුද පසුබසින වීඩියෝව ඉන්දියාවේ ගුජරාට්හි නෞකා ප්රතිචක්රීකරණ අංගනයේ පැරණි දර්ශනයකි.
ඒවගේම, නේපාල ගංවතුර සම්බන්ධව ව්යාජ සහ නොමඟ යවන සුළු සටහන් පෙළකුත් හුවමාරු වුණා. බුදු පිළිමයක් පමණක් නොනැසී ඉතුරු වූ බව කියන දර්ශන, පුද්ගලයෙකු බේරා ගැනීමට උත්සාහ කරන අලියෙකුගේ වීඩියෝවක්, වතුරේ ගසාගෙන යන මිනිසුන් යනාදී තේමා ඔස්සේ තමයි මේ සටහන් හුවමාරු වුණේ.
බුදු පිළිම දර්ශනය 2024 වසරේ නාරායනී ගඟේ පැරණි වීඩියෝවකි; අලියාගේ වීඩියෝවත් AI නිර්මාණයකි. ග්ලැසියරයක් කඩා වැටීමෙන් ඇති වූ, නේපාල ගංවතුර සමග ඇතිවූ ව්යසනය හේතුවෙන් මේ වන විට මරණ 500කට වැඩි ගණනකුත් අතුරුදන් වීම් දෙදහසකට වැඩි ප්රමාණයකුත් වාර්තා වී ඇති අතර මුදවාගැනීමේ ක්රියාන්විත දිගටම ක්රියාත්මකයි.

Panic posts warned that the sea would surge and a tsunami-like disaster would strike Sri Lanka, backed by a "sea receding" video and scenes of Nepal's deadly floods. In fact, the Meteorology Department's 26 August notice was only a routine 2–3 metre wave-height advisory for fishermen from Colombo through Galle, Matara and Hambantota to Pottuvil — not a tsunami warning, as its own director and the Disaster Management Centre confirmed. The "sea receding" clip is old footage from a ship-recycling yard in Gujarat, India, and the viral Nepal flood posts — a surviving Buddha statue, an elephant rescue, and people swept downriver- are misleading or unrelated to the current disaster.
