බණ්ඩාරවෙල ප්‍රාදේශීය රෝහල මූලික රෝහලක් ලෙස උසස් කිරීමට ඇති විභවතාවය පිළිබඳව පසුගිය මාර්තු මස සෞඛ්‍ය හා ජනමාධ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය වෛද්‍ය නලින්ද ජයතිස්ස මහතා සමග සිදු කරන ලද සාකච්ඡා සහ ඉන් පසු සෞඛ්‍ය හා ජනමාධ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශය විසින් නිකුත් කල වාර්ථාවට අනුව අප්‍රේල් මස 28 වන දින සෞඛ්‍ය හා ජනමාධ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශ ලේකම් විසින් ලිඛිතව ඌව පළාත් ප්‍රධාන ලේකම් වෙත ලබා දුන් ලිපිය මගින් බණ්ඩාරවෙල ප්‍රාදේශීය රෝහල, 'බි' වර්ගයේ මූලික රෝහලක් ලෙස උසස් කර ඒකාබද්ධ ආයුර්වේද සුවතා පහසුකම් සහිතව සංවර්ධන කිරිමට නිර්දේශ වූ අතර එම සංවර්ධනයෙන් පසු උසස් කරන ලද මූලික රෝහල පසුගිය 15 දින ජනතා අයිතියට පත් කරන ලදි.

Following discussions held last March with the Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, regarding the potential to upgrade the Bandarawela District Hospital to a Primary Hospital, and in accordance with the report issued thereafter by the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, the Secretary to the Ministry, by letter dated April 28, addressed to the Chief Secretary of the Uva Province, recommended that the Bandarawela District Hospital be upgraded to a Category B Primary Hospital with integrated Ayurvedic health facilities. Following this development, the upgraded Primary Hospital was officially handed over to the public on the 15th of this month
