Geebeor Town, Grand Bassa County-At least one person has been confirmed dead, while four others are in critical condition following a truck accident near Geebeor Town in District #4, Grand Bassa County.
The accident occurred Sunday night when a green truck loaded with planks from the River Cess side overturned while attempting to cross a dilapidated log bridge.
As of the time of publication, the identity of the deceased has not been confirmed. The names of the injured victims are also unknown.
Eyewitnesses said six people were on board the truck, including the driver, the conductor, and four passengers. According to local residents, four people were seated in the front of the truck and two at the back.
Witnesses further reported that the conductor advised the driver to spend the night in Geebeor Town and wait until daylight before crossing the bridge because of its poor condition. However, the driver reportedly insisted on crossing.
This is the second truck accident at the Geebeor Town bridge within two weeks.
On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, another truck carrying planks from River Cess also crashed at the same bridge, leaving one person dead.
Residents say the bridge poses a serious danger to motorists and are calling on the government to urgently rehabilitate it.
They warn that more lives could be lost if no action is taken.
