‎LEMCOL Holds Constituency Engagement With Citizens, Rep. Samuel Brown in Nimba District #1

‎Ganta, Nimba........The Legislative Monitoring Coalition of Liberia (LEMCOL) on May 23, 2026 held a day-long constituency engagement with citizens of District #1 in Ganta, Nimba County, bringing together members of the Christian and Muslim communities, elders, students, and local leaders.

‎Speaking during the engagement, Ms. Edwina Frankyu of IREED emphasized the importance of LEMCOL’s work in monitoring the Legislature and promoting advocacy, transparency, accountability, and citizens’ participation in decision-making processes.
‎
‎Also speaking, Mr. Felton T. Mennoh, Deputy Program Manager of IDAD, presented an overview of legislative performance from February to March 2026. According to him, 39 plenary sessions were monitored with 100 percent session openness, while 40 bills and communications were tracked during the period.
‎
‎For his part, District #1 Representative Hon. Samuel N. Brown Sr. praised the organizers for creating the platform to engage citizens.
‎
He highlighted several development initiatives in the district, including road grading, market and fire service projects, and support to local authorities with equipment.
‎
‎The lawmaker also called on the government to increase civil servants’ salaries, improve the health sector, and invest more in agriculture to reduce Liberia’s dependence on imported rice.
‎
He further promised to summon the Ministry of Public Works to provide updates on road projects in the district, a statement that was welcomed by citizens attending the meeting.
