Guinea - Burkina Faso Tensions:

Guinean authorities have reportedly accused Burkina Faso of sheltering military personnels who allegedly fled Guinea.

The military personnels are said to be staying at two military facilities in Burkina Faso; though their identities and the circumstances of their arrival remains unclear.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and both governments are yet to provide sufficient public details. If confirmed, the situation could affect security cooperation and relations between the two neighboring countries and up till now the Burkina Faso government nor Guinea is yet to speak publicly on the issue.

The flag of Liberia was adopted on August 24, 1847, when Liberia became an independent republic. 🇱🇷

It has 11 horizontal stripes, alternating red and white, which represent the 11 signers of Liberia’s Declaration of Independence. The red stripes symbolize courage and bravery, while the white stripes represent purity and peace.

In the upper-left corner is a blue square with a white five-pointed star. The blue represents the African continent, while the white star symbolizes Liberia as the first independent republic in Africa founded by freed African Americans.

The Liberian flag is often called the “Lone Star” flag because of its single
white star. It closely resembles the flag of the United States because of Liberia’s historical connection with freed Black Americans from the United States.

Information gathered by this platform suggest that serious tension is mounting in Karyee town, approaching Zekepa, district number 9, Nimba County Republic of Liberia as the result of a death reported last night from an alleged attack between criminals and gold diggers at the gold camp.
Currently, Nimba County police commander and the county operations are heading there to claim the situation.

First Group of Deportees Arrive in Liberia

Thursday, August 20, 2026: The first group of 20 deportees from the United States has arrived in Liberia today through the Roberts International Airport (RIA).

The Liberian Government had previously announced that the country is expected to receive approximately 1,200 individuals from the United States who had been seeking asylum there.
