Journalist Dadekoli S. David has issued a stern warning to Representative Musa Hassan Bility of Nimba over remarks that he claims are stirring division among B**g’s leaders and residents.

During the Monday edition of the "Premium Morning Ride," David asserted that Bility’s recent actions at a local bridge ground breaking construction project has been aimed at inciting conflict rather than uniting the county's Leadership.

According to David, the weekend witnessed a ground-breaking ceremony for a new bridge project in B**g County—a development effort intended to bolster infrastructural progress and benefit the local populace.

However, during the event, Representative Bility is reported to have made controversial statements that challenged the contributions of established local leaders. In a heated exchange, Bility publicly accused Hon. Prince Kermue Moye, Sr. of failing to meet the developmental needs of B**g’s citizens.

Bility’s statement, “If Moye builds a bridge, I will build five bridges in B**g.
Moye is a disappointment to the people of B**g,” was delivered in a manner David described as arrogant and dismissive.

David however, criticized these comments, stating they not only undermine the work of the county leaders but also pose a serious disrespect to those who have been working tirelessly for the benefit of the people.

He stressed that such divisive rhetoric should mark both the first and the final time that Representative Bility attempts to cause friction in B**g.

"Bility, this should be the first and the last that you come to B**g under the influence of causing disunity and conflict amongst leaders."

Business Leader Calls for Revisit of Concession Deals in B**g County

By: Nathan Kollie

A prominent business leader in Gbarnga, B**g County, has urged the management of Turkish Mining Company MNG Gold to revisit the concession law of Liberia.

Mr. Varnay Brown, a local entrepreneur, made the call during a conversation with journalists in Gbarnga on September 24, 2025.

Mr. Brown expressed concerns over economic injustice in the country, particularly in the realm of concession deals related to natural resources.

He emphasized the need for the Liberian government to address this issue, citing the prolonged conflict that impacted the economy over 22 years ago.

According to Mr. Brown, the current concession laws do not sufficiently address the issue of fair distribution of benefits from the extraction of natural resources.

He pointed out that local communities and citizens have been denied access to the benefits of the natural resources, attributing it to bad governance in the leadership of the county.

Brown specifically requested that MNG Gold Mining Company pave the road leading from Gbarnga to David's Dean Town in Kokoyah District, B**g County.

He has emphasized the need for proactive leadership and development in the county, stating, "We the citizens of this county, have suffered for a very long time, so our leaders need to be proactive for the development of this county."

MNG Gold has been operating in B**g County for several years, extracting gold and other minerals.

The company shut down its operations in 2023 due to unforeseen circumstances but is preparing to resume operations in Kokoyah District. Mr. Brown's call for revisiting concession deals highlights the need for more equitable arrangements that benefit both the company and the local community.

The call for revisiting concession deals in B**g County raises important questions about economic justice and fair distribution of benefits from natural resource extraction.

As MNG Gold prepares to resume operations, it remains to be seen how the company will address the concerns raised by Mr. Brown and the local community.

Gbarnga – Tensions have reached a boiling point in Gbarnga as dozens of workers occupied the Presidential Palace compound, demanding payment for their labor during ongoing renovation works.

The renovation project, funded by an allocation of US$280,000 from the county administration, has sparked a dispute over wages and employment contracts.

The situation intensified on Tuesday, September 24, 2025, when workers, some of whom have been on-site for nearly two weeks, accused local authorities of failing to honor promises regarding compensation. Many reported being led to believe they would be formally contracted, yet no written agreements have been signed.

Protester Joshua Gelegeleh expressed frustration on behalf of the workers, stating, "We cannot work for free. We have slashed grass, dug foundations, and completed roofing. We were told today would be our payday, but no one has come forward with the money."

Confusion reigned as county officials and the project contractor provided contradictory accounts regarding the workers’ employment status. Authorities maintained that the workers had volunteered with hopes of future contracts, while the protesters insisted they were promised daily or weekly wages.

Police were deployed to the scene to de-escalate tensions after angry chants disrupted the palace grounds. Officers sought to mediate as frustration mounted among the laborers, many of whom are young women and mothers carrying infants.

The renovation project has faced scrutiny since its inception. Originally budgeted at US$300,000, the budget was reduced to US$280,000 following pressure from civil society groups and the media, raising questions about the appropriateness of such an expenditure in the economically challenged region.
