The Liberia National Police (LNP) Maryland County Detachment has confirmed that victims of a shooting incident that occurred in Kanweaken, the commercial capital of River Gee County, have been transferred to the J.J. Dossen Memorial Hospital in Harper, Maryland County, for advanced medical treatment.
The incident, which has sparked public concern and renewed debate about police conduct and the use of fi****ms, reportedly involved Sergeant Marcus Beweh, a member of the Liberia National Police Emergency Response Unit (ERU).
According to multiple eyewitness accounts gathered by our correspondent in Maryland County, Sergeant Beweh was traveling to Maryland County when he made a brief

The motorcyclists, who operate commercial motorbikes in the area, reportedly approached the driver of the vehicle to inform him of the restriction.
Witnesses stated that while the motorcyclists attempted to explain the situation calmly, Sergeant Beweh insisted that the vehicle remain parked in the area.
This disagreement quickly escalated into a heated verbal exchange between the officer and the motorcyclists.
Eyewitnesses further disclosed that Sergeant Beweh later walked away from the scene to a nearby entertainment center.
However, upon his return, he reportedly appeared more aggressive and continued to insist that the vehicle be parked in the restricted area, despite repeated objections from the motorcyclists who maintained that they were acting in accordance with police instructions.
Tensions continued to rise as members of the public gathered, attempting to understand and calm the situation.
Physical Assault and Gunfire
During the confrontation, Sergeant Beweh allegedly slapped one of the motorcyclists, an action that immediately sparked chaos and anger among bystanders. As the situation deteriorated, the officer reportedly drew his service weapon and fired several shotsโfirst into the air and then into the groundโin what witnesses described as an attempt to intimidate the crowd and regain control.
Tragically, one of the bullets struck a civilian, identified as Sam Sannoh, in the thigh. Witnesses said Sannoh was not involved in the argument and was instead trying to calm the crowd and prevent the situation from escalating further.
Another individual, Sampson Weah, was also caught up in the incident and sustained injuries under circumstances that are still being investigated.
Both injured men were rushed to the Fish Town Referral Hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the seriousness of their conditions, health authorities later referred them to the J.J. Dossen Memorial Hospital in Harper for advanced medical care.
