Pictorial: Strengthening the Banking Sector

Central Bank of Liberia partners with G+D Currency Technology to train commercial banks and financial service providers on banknote processing and counterfeit detective measures.

Representatives of Access Bank, GT Bank, Afriland Bank, EcoBank, UBA, CitiTrust, Global Bank, and other financial service providers attended the one-day workshop on Monday, May 8 at the CBL in Monrovia.

Staff of the CBL also attended the training session.
These activities are part of the CBL Currency Reform process to enhance the banking sector by countering the infusion of counterfeit.

Lawsuit is underway for some Liberian in the United States.

Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee and his Legal Team have revealed that a Lawsuit is underway for some Liberian in the United States of America who had accused Mayor Koijee for allegedly orchestrating the killing of former Chief Justice Daughter Charloe Scott.

Cllr. Arthur Johnson, the Lead Counsel of Mayor Koijee has named Cllr. Jerome Verdier, Alex Williams, Shiek Sackor, Eugene Fahngon, and Stanton Witherspoon among others as those linking Mayor Koijee of killing a little girl.

The Lawsuit, according to the team, will be filed against those individuals in the US to ensure the innocence of the Monrovia City Mayor.

Mr. Koijee Legal Team uncovered several recordings of Cllr. Verdier, Fahngon and others allegedly pacifying some individuals to openly accuse the mayor of the act.

Meanwhile, Liberia National Police is yet to formally charge anyone regarding the Death of Charloe Scott.

President Weah Leaves for London to Attend Coronation of King Charles, III

Monrovia, Liberia - The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah has left the country for London, the United Kingdom (UK).

President Weah departed Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the invitation of the Government of the United Kingdom.

The Liberian Leader will join other world leaders for the historic coronation of King Charles III on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Westminister Abbey in London.

The coronation is a symbolic coming together of the monarchy, church, and state for a religious ritual during which the monarch makes vows to both God and country.

While the President is away, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Mr. G. Wesseh Blamoh will act as chair of the Cabinet in close consultation with the Vice President and via telephone contact with the President.

MICAT receives High-level delegation from South Korea.

A ten-man Korean delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Abuja on today May 3, 2023, paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) to seek the Liberian government support through the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism in their bid to host Busan, Korean Expo-2030.

The team was received by Atty. Daniel C. Gayedyu, Jr. Acting MICAT Boss, Hon. Jarlawah A. Tonpo, Deputy Minister for Public Affairs, and Hon. Princess Turkolon, Acting Deputy Minister for Culture and Tourism.

The delegation appreciated the 59 years diplomatic tides between the two countries.

The Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism made committments to participate in the expo and keep engaged with the Korea International Cooperation Agency.

MICAT officials and the South Korean delegation discussed the possibility of cultural exchanges before the World Expo.

President Weah called on Liberians to be patient, register to vote.

H.E Dr George Weah has called on Liberians to be patient with the biometric registration process as it is a new system being carried out in the country.

President Weah participated in the biometric voter registration process on Friday March 31 and obtained his card at the Kendeja Elementary School on the RIA highway.

President Weah who went through the same normal process of registering, told Journalists that the process is not slow as speculated in some quatres.

He stressed the need for citizens to be law abiding and obey the rules from the NEC officials.

Speaking to journalists after his registration process alongside his wife, First Lady Clar M. Weah, he called on citizens to maintain the peace to have a smooth process.

President Weah said citizens should make sure to obtain their Biometric Voter Registration Cards to enable them choose their Government.

President George Weah has officially announced his re-election bid ahead of the much-anticipated October 10 Legislative and General elections.

The President said he will shortly be reaching out to citizens, asking them for a second term, in addition to the six-year mandate that was given to him in 2017.

President emphasized that he wants a second term mandate for continuity and stability: transformation, development and growth.

President Weah said such mandate will pave the way to consolidate and secure the peace, which has been perfectly preserved by the help of the people.

President Weah assured that a second mandate will enable his administration to consolidate the gains made in the last few years.

A forty-one year-old man in Nimba County has reportedly spilled acid on his wife's private part after accusing her of having extra affairs with another man.

According to eyes waitness Mr. Siaway committed the act during an argument between him and his wife, Yei Wayean on Friday in Behplay.

This brings to two the number of cases involving the accused as eyewitnesses' accounts show the perpetrator often inflicts major injuries on his wife.

The victim is currently seeking treatment at the Karnplay Health Center, while Cooper Siaway is in police custody pending trial.

Meanwhile, Mr. Siaway during police preliminary investigation admitted to committing the act.

President Weah assured that the country is currently strong, stable and vibrant; adding the state of the nation is also youthful, peaceful and secured.

The Liberian Leader said, his administration has accomplished a lot against all the odds in spite of the negative forecast when he took office in 2018.

President Weah also said despite the negative impact of Covid-19 and the downturn in the world's economy, Liberia continues to make giant strides in the attainment of major development objectives.

The president promised not to fail the people, stressing that he will always work hard to justify the confidence reposed in him by the people.

The Liberian Leader assured that during the next few months leading to October of this year, his administration Will continue to accelerate, build on its continue momentum, and continue to deliver.
