Minister Jallah Reaffirms Liberia’s Commitment to Foundational Learning at High-Level Global Forum, in the United States of America
MONROVIA, LIBERIA MAY 5, 2025
The Minister of Education of the Republic of Liberia, Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah served as panelist in a high-level convening on the sidelines of the 2025 World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings, held in Washington DC USA.
As the World Bank /IMF meetings wrapped up, Minister Jallah was invited by the Brookings Institution and Human Capital Africa to serve as a panelist in a unique convening that brought together Ministers of Finance and Ministers of Education.
Serving as discussants were Dr. Obiageli “Oby” Ezekwe, Founder - Human Capital Africa, Ben Piper, Director Global Education Program - Gates foundation, Laura Frigenti, CEO- Global Partners for Education---Emily Gustafsson-Wright, Senior Fellow- Brookings , Dr. Luis Benveniste- Director for Education-World Bank , and other leading development partners, private sector stakeholders, and philanthropies.
The convening titled , “The Economic Case for Prioritizing Foundational Learning in Africa,” moderated by Dr. Modupe Olateju, and Prof. Landry Signe', centered on solutions-driven dialogue on prioritizing foundational learning as a strategic lever for Africa’s economic growth.
The forum offered a shared space for Finance and Education Ministers to shape a collective vision for sustainable investment in foundational learning.
In her deliberations, Dr. Jallah outlined Liberia’s strong emphasis on foundational learning, with specific reference to the upcoming Excellence in Learning project ( EXCEL), an initiative purposed to advance foundational learning in Liberia.
“Liberia’s future lies in the classroom—and we are building it step by step,” she affirmed.
