Hon. Thomas P. Fallah writes...

Earlier today, at the invitation of the President-elect and traditional uncle of Lofa County, His Excellency Joseph N. Boakai, we met and discussed the path forward for Lofa County.

The President-elect and the Lofa County Legislative Caucus both agreed that the elections are over, and the onus is on all sides to now work together to advance unity, peace, and development in the interest of our county and country.

As the first Deputy Speaker of Liberia of Lofa descent, I am eagerly looking forward to a great working relationship with Ambassador Boakai—one that would help accelerate the much-needed development for our people.

Youth Crime Watch, a Local Liberian Non-Governmental Organization has abandoned its sub-office in Kakata leaving the facility covered by heavy bush for months now.

Speaking to Classic FM news beat on Wednesday, residents of the Borlorla Road community narrated the abandoned facility poses a serious threat to the lives of children in the community.

They said the abandoned building could be used as a hideout for bad people. The residents also noted that during the day snakes and other harmful creatures intrude their houses.

Our reporter applied all efforts to reach out to the county head and other staff of the institution but to no avail.

Minutes after the post, Varney Wilson a senior staff of the Youth Crime Watch Margibi project office acknowledged his organization being in charge of the facility but just ended the project and awaiting funding for another cycle.

"That structure is owned by someone. The Project has ended and nothing happening in that structure now" Wilson noted.

The Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives wins unopposed – vows to continue being committed to her job

As the 55th National Legislature's 1st day of the first session of the House of Representatives commenced Tuesday, Madam Mildred Siryon retained the Chief Clerk position unopposed which shows that she did not have a contender during the process.

The victory of Madam Siryon is her third time winning such a position on the white ballot.

Though most new lawmakers did not know her working relationship they overwhelmingly reposed their confidence in her for the position.

During an interview after her elections, she lauded members of the august body for granting her service for the third time.

The long-serving civil servant vowed to continue being committed to her job something she believes is responsible for her long service since 1998 at the honorable House of Representatives.

A staunch member of the ruling CDC in Margibi alleged that ordinary Liberians will not have top-appointed positions under the Boakai government

Admits the defeat of the ruling CDC government in the just-ended election in Liberia, a staunch member of the Coalition Democratic Change Mohammed Dunor has alleged that the Boakai’s administration will not appoint local Liberians in top government positions, says the majority of Boakai’s appointees will come from the US and other parts of the globe to serve rather than the Liberian people.

According to Mr. Dunor, President–Elect Boakai during the campaign presented himself as an extraordinary leader to the Liberians something he believes Amb. Boakai will want experts from the diaspora to head top government positions to make good campaign promises.

The staunch CDC partisan also alleged that Amb. Boakai has planned to bring auditors from the US leaving one of Liberia’s best auditor generals John Morlu who stood with him during the difficult times of the election.

He indicated that this had been disclosed by the President–Elect during his interview with VOA calling on international auditors to spearhead the auditing process of the Weah government, a statement he believes has termed John Morlu as an individual who is not qualified for the job.

Mr. Mohammed Dunor appreciates President Weah for giving the local Liberians the opportunity to serve in government during his six years of service to the Liberian people.
