Morris reported that his household stayed awake throughout the night after hearing suspicious sounds, including footsteps and seeing a light beam directed at their main window. No security personnel were reportedly present in the area, prompting the family to remain on guard.

“I have contacted the Margibi Police Commander about the situation,” Morris said.

The incident occurred shortly after Morris returned to Kakata from Monrovia, where he had spent several days following his nomination. His homecoming was marked by jubilant celebrations from supporters.

Security authorities are yet to confirm the nature of the activity. Morris is calling on security authorities in the county for swift action to ensure the safety of his family.

Barcolleh Health Center Shows Compassion by Waiving Medical Fees for Elderly Patient

By: Sakajipo M. Chea

Barcolleh Health Center in Kakata, Margibi County recently made headlines due to an elderly man, Kpanah Nannah, being held at their facility over unpaid medical bills. The situation unfolded on June 27, 2025, when Mr. Nannah was brought in for urgent surgery and treatment, necessitating a deposit of $80 USD. However, it became apparent that he couldn't cover the remaining expenses.

Despite the financial challenges, Barcolleh Health Center provided Mr. Nannah with exceptional care for 12 days, including food and shelter. Eventually, a family member stepped forward on July 8, 2025, with $40 USD towards the outstanding balance of $120 USD and L$2,550. The center decided to waive the remaining $80 USD and L$2,550, allowing Mr. Nannah to be discharged and reunited with his family.

The breakdown of expenses incurred at the facility included $200 USD for surgery and medication, along with L$2,550 for pre-surgery treatment. Barcolleh Health Center's compassionate decision to waive a portion of the fees highlights their commitment to providing accessible healthcare to the community.

Barcolleh Health Center remains dedicated to offering quality healthcare services and affordable treatment options to the people of Margibi County.

Residents of Margibi County Advocate for John Buway's Appointment as Superintendent

Several residents of Margibi County have united to formally request President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to consider appointing former Superintendent John Z. Buway to again lead the county as superintendent.

This appeal was made during a gathering in Kakata on Tuesday, where members of the community expressed their strong support for Buway.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Mr. Wilson Toeka emphasized Buway's competence and eligibility for the position.

He acknowledged that although Buway initially declined to serve in recent appointments, his past performance makes him well-suited for the role.

Toeka highlighted the significant developments undertaken during Buway's previous tenure, including the construction of the Kakata Quest House, the rehabilitation of the B**g Mine Road, the establishment of the 26gate public school, the Margibi scholarship scheme, and the Kakata administrative building among other projects.

These achievements reflect Buway's commitment to the county and his advocacy for its residents.

Toeka further asserted that Buway is the longest-serving superintendent in the county's history, known for his integrity with no recorded instances of corruption following several audits conducted by the General Auditing Commission (GAC).

The community's message to President Boakai is clear: they seek a leader who will prioritize the interests of Margibi County and continue the positive trajectory established under Buway's leadership. "President Boakai, if you want to see more developments in the county, appoint Buway. He will do it for you like he did for Ellen Johnson Sirleaf," Toeka stressed.

The residents are united in their belief that appointing Buway is not only a step towards continued progress but also a move to ensure that the county's needs are met effectively.

They are hopeful that their collective voice will persuade the President to consider Buway for the superintendent position, underscoring their desire for consistent and effective leadership as they advocate for the betterment of their community.
