UBA GHANA REPORTEDLY BLOCKED NATHANIEL MCGILL $ 4MILLION USD ACCOUNT
Report says the private account of Sanctioned and suspended Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel McGill at United Bank for Africa (UBA) in Accra, Ghana containing over Four Million United States Dollars has been blocked based on instructions from the sanctions committee.
According to sources in Accra, the order was issued to the bank from the United States, and to other banking institutions where McGill may have deposited his money, this is a result of the immediate enforcement of the sanctions order.
Under the sanctions, all property and interests in property of McGill and the other two officials that are in the United States must be blocked and reported to Treasury, while people who engage in transactions with the officials may be subject to sanctions themselves, the statement said.
“Through their corruption these officials have undermined democracy in Liberia for their own personal benefit,” Brian Nelson, Treasury’s undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, said in a statement.
Few days the United States imposed sanctions on three Liberian government officials, including President George Weah’s chief of staff, for what it says is their ongoing involvement in public corruption, the U.S. Treasury Department said on Monday.

COURT ISSUES ORDER TO ARREST POLICE IG
Her Honor, Judge Nancy Sammy has ordered the arrest of Police IG Patrick Sudue for contempt of court.
The Writ from the Civil Law Court is predicated upon what the court termed as refusal of Police IG Sudue to appear before the Independent National Commission on Human Rights to provide accountability of the July 26, 2022 protest in front the US Embassy.
The INCHR is charged with the statutory mandate to protect and promote human rights in Liberia.
The Violent July 26 protest witnessed the alleged brutality and torture of one member of the Students Unification Party (UL), Christopher Sivili. The SUP member, according to reports sustained injuries and has been in critical condition since the incident.
The INCHR in its initial condemnation report, called on the public to assist the commission in gathering information regarding the incident.
Earlier Police arrest and charged those believed to be members of the Congress for Democratic Change Council of Patriots over their involvement captured on videotape.
Treasury Sanctions Senior Liberian Government Officials for Public Corruption

WASHINGTON — Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated Liberian government officials Nathaniel McGill, Sayma Syrenius Cephus, and Bill Twehway for their involvement in ongoing public corruption in Liberia. These officials are designated under Executive Order (E.O.) 13818, which builds upon and implements the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act and targets perpetrators of serious human rights abuse and corruption around the world.
“Through their corruption, these officials have undermined democracy in Liberia for their benefit,” said Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson. “Treasury’s designations today demonstrate that the United States remains committed to holding corrupt actors accountable and to the continued support of the Liberian people.”

The Ministry of Youth & Sports has accepted the LFA Letter requesting the hosting of all Sierra Leone Football Association international matches to be played in Liberia.
Sierra Leone will play Mali in the second round of the African Nations Championship (CHAN ) on August 27-28, 2022.
Sierra Leone Football Champions Bo Rangers will also use the SKD Sports Complex for their home CAF Champions league on September 9, FC Kallon, the Cup Winners will play their own Home game on September 15, 2022 in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“AME University Condemns and Distances Itself from the July 26 Independence Day Violence Allegedly Involving Its Students, Calls on Police to Launch a Thorough Investigation.”
Monrovia, Liberia (August 2, 2022): The Administration of AME University is appalled by the violence that characterized Liberia’s 175th Independence Day Celebration in Monrovia. The University wishes to confirm from video footage circulating on social media and through internal investigation that a number of its students including the President of the Students’ Governing Council, Mr. Abdurahman Barry were directly or indirectly involved with the incident.
The University condemns and categorically denounces all forms of violence regardless of who is involved and whom it affects. Furthermore, AME University joins other Liberians and relevant non-state actors in calling on the Government to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
We also laud the mandate issued by the President of the Republic of Liberia for the launch of an immediate, speedy, and thorough investigation.
Meanwhile, the University has relieved Mr. Abdurahman Barry of his position as President of the 22nd Graduating Class and the Students’ Governing Council and placed him and all students involved with the incident on Disciplinary Probation.

A man who purported as a Physician assistant for many years is being arrested by the Liberia National Police for forgery.
D. Daniel Wright, 31, confesses to the crime of playing the role of a fake physician assistant.
