Barclay Training Center, Monrovia, Liberia (August 15, 2025): The Department of Gender and Social Inclusion (DGSI) has successfully concluded its nationwide campaign on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV). The closing program brought together notable officials from the Ministry of National Defense and the Armed Forces of Liberia.

During the event, the Assistant Minister for Administration at the Ministry of National Defense, Hon. Merlin Daniel Dennis, and Brigade Commander Col. Roland T. Murphy shared their insights.

In his remarks, Hon. Dennis expressed, “It is an honor to join such an important program.” He highlighted how the campaign has fostered unity among communities in the fight against SGBV and stressed the importance of stronger institutional commitment and effective policies to enhance societal well-being. He commended the DGSI for its dedicated efforts in raising awareness across military barracks nationwide and extended his gratitude to the communities and the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) for their impactful participation.

For his part, Col. Murphy urged parents to cultivate an environment where children can communicate freely without fear. He acknowledged the Ministry of Defense for its relentless dedication to spreading the anti-SGBV message, stating, “Our children are the pillars of our society, and we must keep them safe at all times and protect them from harassment.”
