The 4-Day exercise is from July 27-30, 2021 at the Corina Hotel, WaterAid Monrovia Office and on virtual link, respectively. Water Aid Dedicates WASH Facilities in Clinics and Communities in Rural Montserrado
The British Charity Water Aid – Liberia has dedicated water and sanitation facilities in three clinics and some communities in Rural Montserrado County.
Clinics benefitting from the facilities include White Plains, Harrisburg and Crozerville .
The construction of the was sponsored by Water Aid – Liberia as part of its WASH in health facilities initiative and also intended to improve health delivery services.
The project was implemented by the Evangelistic Children Rehabilitation (ECREP) with the construction of Modern Toilets, incinerators, washing rooms with running water were installed with a solar system erected to supply the facilities with water for the health centers.

Speaking during the dedication of the facilities, a staff of Water Aid , Patience Zayzay, stressed the need for sustainability.
Miss Zayzay said the proper management will encourage other partners to assist the clinics.
She praised ECREP for the implementation of the program describing it as a relief for inhabitants of the three townships when it comes to health.
For his part , the implement partner, the Executive Director of EECREP, Abraham Powell, thanked local authority for the level of cooperation during the implementation of the project.
Mr. Powell said the implementation of the project was interrupted due to the out break of COVID-19, however with the strong will of employees of his entity the target has been met.
He disclosed that new hand pumps were constructed and old ones rehabilitated in the three townships to provide safe drinking water to community residents.
Also speaking the District Health Officer, David George commended Water Aid and its implementing partner , ECREP for the provision of the facilities.
Mr. George said the construction of the facilities have brought great relief to patients and medical staff of the three health facilities in Careyburg District.
The DHO used the occasion to admonish medical staff and patients at these facilities to ensure that the facilities are sustained and maintained.
As part of the project ,medical staff of the three health facilities were trained and IPC materials provided by Water Aid through ECREP.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) have launched 500,000 United States Dollar Sanitation project and economic empowerment project
The project was launched recently in Johnsonville, Kpelle Town Market with B**g County, Margibi and rural Montserrado Counties as beneficiaries.
Providing an overview of the project and roles and responsibilities of partners,the Senior Project Officer of Catholic Relief Services , Theophilus Davies said the the installation of the hand washing facilities will enable marketers at selected markets and buyers carry out hand washing.
The CRS project said the facilities will set the platform for the prevention and fight against the COVID-19 pandemic
Mr. Davis also disclosed that as part of the project, Hygiene promoters will be deploy at the selected markets to carry hygiene promotion .
He also said 200,000 thousand of the 500,000 will be set aside as economic empowerment for selected communities so as to provide some empowerment for them due to the economic hardship caused by the corona virus.
Also speaking at the launch of the project, the Health Office Director of the United States Agency for International Development ,Jessica Healey, said the initiate is intended to aid the government of Liberia to battle the COVID-19 virus.
Healey said the hand washing facilities at selected markets will help in the fight of the COVID-19 virus .
She said hands washing play a pivotal role in preventing the spread of disease which are transmitted through the hands.
Madam Healey assured Liberians that the US Government is committed in supporting initiatives of the Liberian Government that will bring about improvement in the life of its citizenry.
Speaking on behalf of the Liberia WASH Civil Society , the Executive Director of United Youth, Timothy Kpeh praised USAID and CRS for the funding for the project .
Mr. Kpeh used the ocassion to remind the Government of Liberia to ensure that the issues of water, sanitation and hygiene is addressed properly with the aim of improving the status of Liberians when comes to WASH.
The WASH CSO Advocate wants government increase budgetary allocation for WASH in the National Budget.
"Ninety percent of our WASH activities are supported by international partners, adding our international will not continue to do so always", Mr. Kpeh added
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the National WASH Commission,Bobby Whitefield commended USAID and the Catholic Relief Services for the initiative, describing it as a way of preventing the spread diseases.
Ambassador Whitefiled asserted that the CDC government is committed to the process of providing water , sanitation and hygiene facilities to its citizenry.
He admonished beneficiaries to ensure that the facilities that will be installed at their various markets be sustained and maintained
The WASH Commission Chairman also supported calls by WASH CSOs for government to make the necessary funding to the commission to enable it perform the task of ensuring that the provision of water, sanitation and hygiene services are improved.
The superintendent of the kpelle Town Market, Mrs. Roseline Ngakpe and the chairman of Kpelleh Town Community , Joel Gayflor thanked USAID and the Catholic Relioef Services for providing the facilities to the market.
They assured USAID and CRS that the facilities will be maintained and sustained for the betterment of the market and community.
