AFL Officer Disappears from Military Hospital in Liberia

Monrovia, Liberia – Saah Harris, an officer of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), has reportedly vanished from the 14 Military Hospital where he was receiving treatment after returning from a peacekeeping mission in Mali. Harris has been missing since November 10, 2024, raising concerns among his family and colleagues. The AFL is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his disappearance according to The Chief Of Staff of the Army, but family are saying it has been so long they are not getting any update from the authority concerning the disappearance of their brother speaking on FREEDOM HUB with KOK, a Popular Radio Show in Monrovia.

Labor Minister Kruah in Work-Permit Scandal: Leaked Documents reveals illegal Fees Payment.

Leaked documents obtained by Verity News allege that Labor Minister Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah illegally approved fee waivers for 42 Chinese workers employed by Bangali PTE Limited in Congo Town. The minister reportedly waived the standard $250 permit fee per worker without legal justification and allegedly collected the fees directly. Sources from the Ministry and concession zones suggest this practice extended to subcontractors of PSI, Afcon, and others, depriving the government of expected revenue.

This scandal compounds longstanding concerns about Kruah’s stewardship of foreign work permits. Controversy has previously erupted over the issuance of more than 8,000 10,000 permits to foreign nationals in 2024, many without job descriptions raising accusations of sidelining qualified Liberians. A Senate investigation, prompted by Senator Abraham Darius Dillon, unearthed irregularities, triggering demands for greater transparency and accountability.

● MOL Revokes 19 Foreign Work Permits Amid Widespread Misrepresentation and Labor Law Violations

》The Ministry of Labor has revoked 19 foreign work permits following an initial audit of alien employment records in Montserrado County and surrounding areas, citing widespread misrepresentation and procedural violations.

Out of 21 foreign workers reviewed in this first phase of the audit, only two permits were found to be in compliance with Liberia’s labor laws, according to the Ministry’s report released Tuesday. (Continuation in the comments section)
