‎In a massive effort to ease internet challenges at the Sorlumbar port of entry in Lofa County for government-assigned security personnel, the Liberia Telecommunication Authority (LTA) has completed the installation of Starlink satellite internet to deliver vital connectivity in the area.

‎The LTA says it has engaged internet service providers in Liberia, Orange and Lonestar, to continue the process at other border entries across the country that face similar issues.
‎
‎The LTA has assured citizens that it will continue the operation to ensure internet challenges across border areas in Liberia are resolved.
‎
‎Meanwhile, security personnel in the area appreciated the team, headed by LTA Chairman Clarence K. Massiquoi, for what they described as a swift effort in resolving internet issues for government security operations.

‎The move marks a major boost in addressing Liberia’s long-standing internet challenges in rural communities.

Rodney Sieh Says Weah’s 2029 Comeback Depends on Political Reinvention

Media executive Rodney Sieh says former President George Weah will need major political reinvention, reconciliation with former allies, and a change in leadership style if he hopes to return to power in 2029.

According to Sieh, internal divisions within the Congress for Democratic Change and the departure of key figures such as Saah Joseph and Thomas Fallah have significantly weakened the party’s political base.

Sieh further noted that Liberia’s regional voting patterns and shifting political loyalties often favor incumbents, giving President Joseph Boakai an advantage ahead of the 2029 elections.

Weedor and the Unity Party stem from a professional consultancy arrangement rather than partisan membership. According to verified documentation in the possession of the paper , Weedor’s institution, the Center for Development and Election Management (CEDEM), was formally contracted in August 2023 to provide technical electoral services ahead of the general elections.

The agreement, signed by Joseph Nyuma Boakai in his capacity as Standard Bearer of the UP/Alliance, focused on recruiting, training, and deploying poll watchers and party agents.

The investigation emphasizes that CEDEM operates as an independent election consultancy entity, and its engagement with the Unity Party fell within standard professional practices observed in democratic systems.

NPA CONVENES RICE COMMITTEE MEETING WITH RICE IMPORTERS
Amid Growing Concerns Over the Impact of the Iran- United States Conflict on Food Commodity Importation

On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, the National Port Authority of Liberia (NPA) convened a high-level consultative meeting comprising members of the Presidential Rice Committee, the Rice Importers Association of Liberia, the Food Authority, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the National Civil Society Council of Liberia. The meeting was held in response to growing national concerns regarding the potential impact of the ongoing armed conflict between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America on the importation of rice and other essential food commodities into Liberia.

The meeting was called to order by Mr. Charles A. Minor, Chairman of the Rice Committee, who presided over the session. Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly, Managing Director of the National Port Authority, moderated the deliberations. The convening of this multi-stakeholder forum underscores the NPA's institutional mandate to safeguard the uninterrupted flow of essential commodities through the Freeport of Monrovia, particularly in periods of international uncertainty.

Central to the discussions was the imperative to ensure the continued availability of rice, Liberia's primary staple food on the domestic market.
