In a groundbreaking development, Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon, Representative of Electoral District #11, Montserrado County, and a proud son of Butaw District,Sinoe County has taken a monumental step towards restoring the historic Butaw Administrative Building. This iconic structure, once a hub of governance and justice, housing the District Commissioner's office, the city Mayor's office, and the magisterial court, had been abandoned for years, succumbing to the ravages of time and neglect.
Despite numerous advocacies, both local and national leaders had turned a blind eye to the building's plight, leaving the community to improvise with a makeshift structure. However, Hon. Koon has heeded the cry of his people, taking it upon himself to spearhead the renovation of this historic landmark.
The Butaw Administrative Building stands as a stark testament to the neglect and abandonment. Its grandeur lost to the passage of time, the building's deterioration is a powerful symbol of both local and national Leaders failure to preserve its heritage and serve its people.
According to Mr. Chris M. Quarthy, Speaker Koon's focal person in Sinoe County, the process is expected to begin this month (August 2025), specifically next week.
"With Hon. Koon's initiative, a new chapter unfolds for the Butaw Administrative Building. The renovation is expected to not only restore the building's former glory but also provide a functional space for governance and justice. This move is a significant step towards preserving Liberia's heritage and promoting effective governance. Thanks to Hon.koon for such a great initiative." Mr. Quarthy added.
Moreover, the community is abuzz with excitement, hailing Hon. Koon's initiative as a beacon of hope and progress. "This is momentous daybreak for our community that will forever be remembered," said a local resident. "We've been waiting for someone to take the lead, Thank God that Hon. Koon didn't forget about where he came from and he has decided to adhere to our call. Thanks to him and we look forward to seeing more of these developments being implemented. " Said another.
