FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Offficial Statement from the Liberia National Police
(Monrovia, Liberia - September 5, 2025) The Liberia National Police (LNP) has observed with deep concern a viral video circulating on social media of a tricycle rider assaulting a uniformed officer. This troubling incident has generated public outrage, but also misinformation suggesting that the officer is a member of the LNP.
We wish to clarify: the officer is not an LNP officer, but Officer David Mulbah of the Paynesville City Corporation Police (P*P). While he does not serve under our command, we stress that violence against any officer or security personnel is violence against the values of peace and rule of law that protect us all. Such acts are unlawful, unacceptable, and must be condemned by every Liberian who desires a safe and just society.
With the support of the LNP, steps are underway to identify, arrest, and prosecute the perpetrator. We stand firmly with all officers who risk their lives daily to serve, and we assure the public that justice will be pursued.
We also remain concerned about the unauthorized use of LNP uniforms, badges, and insignias by non-LNP personnel. This practice creates confusion, erodes public trust, and brings undue embarrassment to our institution. We call on all agencies and individuals to desist at once. Firm measures will be taken to protect the integrity of the LNP.
We thank the public for its vigilance and continued cooperation. The Liberia National Police reaffirm its neutrality, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to protecting all citizens without fear or favor. Together, let us reject violence, respect those who serve, and strengthen the bond of trust that keeps our nation safe.
Signed:
Deputy Commissioner of Police Cecelia G. Clarke
