Gender Ministry Endorses Landmark Gender Responsive Foreign Policy Strategy.

The Deputy Minister for Research, Policy and Planning at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Curtis V. Dorley, has reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to advancing gender equality through the development of Liberia’s first-ever Gender-Responsive Foreign Policy (GRFP) Strategy.
Speaking at a high-level stakeholder dialogue held at the C. Cecil Dennis Auditorium at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dorley described the initiative as both timely and transformative, emphasizing its significance in aligning Liberia’s domestic gender priorities with its international engagements.
The dialogue brought together senior government officials, representatives from UN Women, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders to review and provide input on the draft strategy.
Hon. Dorley, who spoke on behalf of the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, commended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its partners for spearheading what he termed a historic and pioneering effort.
He stressed that the success of the policy will depend on broad based collaboration, urging government institutions, civil society groups, and international partners to work collectively to ensure inclusivity and shared ownership.
According to him, the strategy must reflect the voices and realities of all Liberians, particularly women, girls, and marginalized communities.
Hon. Dorley further called for a shift from policy formulation to concrete action, highlighting the need to integrate gender perspectives into diplomatic decision making, trade agreements, and international negotiations.
The Deputy Minister also underscored the importance of aligning the strategy with international commitments, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5, which focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls.
