Two brothers one defence

The Barker Brothers will both represent Lofa County in the 2025–2026 National County Sports Meet!

Emmanuel Barker has successfully convinced his brother, Gabriel Barker, to turn down an offer from Nimba County and join him in the colors of Lofa County.

Gabriel, who recently featured for Nimba County in their exhibition victory over Lofa at the SKD Sports Stadium, will now switch sides for the upcoming tournament.

Wologizi FC head coach, Jasper Benfelix, has officially turned down his appointment to serve as the head coach of the Lofa County soccer team for the upcoming season.

Sources confirmed that Coach Benfelix was approached by the Lofa County Sports Steering Committee to take over the position. However, he has declined the offer.

When contacted, Coach Benfelix acknowledged the appointment but did not disclose his reasons for rejecting the job, saying he prefers not to speak on the matter at this time.

His decision comes as a surprise to many football lovers in Lofa, especially following his recent impressive performances with Wologizi FC.

Further details remain unknown as the county prepares for the Liberia National County Sports Meet.

James “Messi” Tarpeh is espected to officially sign with Nimba County ahead of the National County Sports Meet. The two-time county meet champion—and Lofa County’s most experienced and celebrated player—will now suit up for the six-time champions, Nimba, in this year’s edition of the tournament.

Nimba head coach Mamadee Sheriff confirmed the signing, telling our reporter that Tarpeh’s arrival is a major boost to the squad as they prepare for the upcoming competition.
