HABITS ARE EASY TO BUILD, BUT HARD TO BREAK

I used to think little habits were harmless.
Whenever my phone needed charging, I kept using it—watching videos, replying to messages, browsing, even working. I had done it for years without issue, so I assumed it was safe.

Then I saw a video of phones overheating while charging. Whether every clip was real mattered less than the warning it gave me: something can feel safe simply because it has never gone wrong.

That made me ask: how many habits do we keep just because they are familiar? How often do we stop asking whether they are wise?

The Bible says wisdom begins with a teachable heart.
"The wise in heart will receive commands, but a prating fool will fall."
Proverbs 10:8

God often warns us before trouble comes—through His Word, wise counsel, or the experiences of others. A wise person listens.

Spiritual life works the same way. Sin often starts with small, unchecked habits, and growth in Christ begins with small daily choices.

Do not wait for pain to force change. Choose wisdom now.
A small change today may protect your tomorrow.

Which would have been harder for you and why?

A. Spending 40 days in the wilderness with Jesus.
B. Building the ark with Noah.

Lately I have been thinking about how fast our generation is losing its dialect.
We dress like others, speak like others, joke like others, and slowly forget the language that first called our names at home. Many of us understand our dialect, but we are ashamed to speak it.

Some of us cannot even greet properly in it anymore. That loss did not happen by accident. We allowed it.
Dialect is not just language. It carries memory, respect, humor, wisdom, and identity. When a dialect fades, a way of thinking fades with it. A history fades. A people fade.

I am from B**g County. I am Kpelleh. That is not something I should hide or water down to sound modern. My dialect tells where I come from and who raised me. It reminds me that I belong to something older than trends and louder than social approval.

So I am choosing to promote my dialect and my culture. Not because it is perfect, but because it is mine. I want to speak it more, learn it better, and pass it on. If we do not protect our dialects, nobody will do it for us.
Being educated should not mean being disconnected. Being modern should not mean being empty.
Our dialect is not backward. Forgetting it is.
