Jackson F. Doe Memorial Regional Referral Hospital Commissions New Vehicles in Line with the President’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development
Tappita, Nimba County – The management of the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Regional Referral Hospital (JFD Hospital) today commissioned three brand-new pickup trucks and a 18-seater bus to boost its logistical capacity and improve healthcare service delivery across Liberia’s southeastern and central regions.
This milestone marks a significant breakthrough for the institution, which has not had any functional vehicles since 2015. Over the years, the lack of transportation severely constrained the hospital’s ability to deliver essential services, transport staff, and respond promptly to medical emergencies.
The newly commissioned vehicles will therefore play a crucial role in restoring mobility, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring timely service delivery to patients and communities. In addition, two new ambulances are expected to arrive in December 2025, further enhancing the hospital’s emergency response and patient referral system.
This initiative is in direct alignment with the President of Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), which prioritizes Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism as key pillars for national progress. The acquisition of these vehicles reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the health sector and ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all Liberians.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Victor Kaizer, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JFD Hospital, expressed profound appreciation to the Government of Liberia, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) for their continued support and collaboration.
“For nearly a decade, our institution operated without any functional vehicles, making service delivery extremely difficult. The commissioning of these pickups and bus marks a major step forward for the Jackson F. Doe Hospital and demonstrates the government’s commitment under the ARREST Agenda to improving access to essential services for all Liberians,” Dr. Kaizer stated.
He further commended His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Liberia, for his confidence and leadership in promoting inclusive national development, and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to supporting the government’s broader healthcare goals.
The commissioning ceremony was graced by key government officials, including the Mayor of Tappita, who performed the official commissioning, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Health, MFDP, development partners, and local stakeholders.
Since his appointment in 2024, Dr. Kaizer has led the hospital through a period of transformation characterized by:
Rehabilitation and modernization of key hospital departments, including the emergency ward, maternity unit, and diagnostic laboratory.
Recruitment and training of qualified medical and administrative staff.
Introduction of digital health records to improve efficiency and patient care.
Expansion of partnerships with national and international health organizations.
Improvement of staff welfare and motivation, leading to greater efficiency and performance.
These efforts continue to position JFD Hospital as a model of excellence in Liberia’s healthcare system.
