President Boakai Eulogizes the Late Alhaji Amadu Sheriff at 40-Day Sacrifice Service

November 11, 2024

Executive Mansion, Monrovia— President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., accompanied by an array of government officials and dignitaries, joined the family of the late Alhaji Amadu Sheriff, alongside the Islamic community, in commemorating the 40-day memorial service in honor of the fallen esteemed community leader.

Held in accordance with Islamic tradition, Sunday, November 10, 2024 in Chocolate City, Monrovia, the gathering provided an opportunity for reflection on the legacy of Alhaji Sheriff who was celebrated not only for his contributions to his community but for his enduring service to the entire nation.

President Boakai acknowledged the Muslim community and the family for hosting what he called an “auspicious commemoration,” a moment he described as a testament to Liberia’s unity and respect for diverse traditions and creeds.

“Today, we are not here just to honor the memory of Alhaji Amadu Sheriff, but to participate in a gathering that unifies the Islamic community, spurs harmony among our respective faiths, and strengthens our shared commitment to Liberia’s future,” President Boakai remarked.

He added, “The late Sheriff served not only his community but the whole of Liberia. It is now our time to give back and carry forward the values he stood for, including peace, unity, and national pride.”

Speaking further, President Boakai touted Liberia’s resilience and collective potential, emphasizing that with unity and a shared vision, the nation can overcome past setbacks.

“We are a great nation with incredible potential. Our progress may have been delayed, but this delay does not mean denial. If we work together, Liberia can and will move forward,” he affirmed.

Responding to the President’s message, Alhaji Lusinee Kamara, Political Leader of the All Liberian Coalition Party (ALCOP), expressed gratitude for the President’s support of the Sheriff family and the community at large. He commended President Boakai’s efforts to lead Liberia with a spirit of unity and pledged ALCOP’s full support for the Administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation.

The memorial event underscored Liberia’s commitment to honoring the contributions of its citizens. It highlighted the President’s dedication to fostering unity among Liberia’s diverse communities.
