The tournament, organized by ArcelorMittal Liberia two weeks ago, aimed to strengthen engagement with communities across its operational areas and increase awareness of AML’s activities in the country.

Matches were held simultaneously in Grand Bassa, B**g, and Nimba counties—AML’s primary areas of operation. The winners from each county will now advance to Nimba County, where the final phase of the tournament will take place.

Grand Bassa Journalist Robert Zeeh Backs Unity Party Chairman’s “Helping Verbs” Remark.

Grand Bassa County, Liberia – One of Liberia’s outspoken journalists based in Grand Bassa County, Ambassador Robert Zeeh, has expressed support for Unity Party (UP) National Chairman Luther Tarpeh over his recent statement describing other political parties as “helping verbs.”

Speaking to DN-News Liberia on Tuesday, Ambassador Zeeh said since Chairman Tarpeh made the remark, many supporters of the Liberty Party (LP) have criticized it. However, he believes the statement reflects the current political reality in Liberia.
According to Zeeh, Liberty Party members should accept the fact that they have been playing a secondary role to the Unity Party for years, rather than positioning themselves as a strong, independent political force.

“They will always remain helping verbs because no effort is being made that would allow them to ever taste the presidency,” he said.

Referencing a recent statement by Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, who declared that the “contract” between the Liberty Party and the Unity Party has expired, Zeeh argued that the party has already lost its political direction and influence.
He added that the Liberty Party would have been in a stronger position if it had been managed by Mr. Musa Bility instead of Senator Karnga-Lawrence.

“The party has lost its political standing in major counties. This is a bad sign for a party that the people of Bassa once strongly believed in,” Zeeh stated.
He pointed out that in the most recent elections, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) won Grand Bassa County, a result that, according to him, shows the declining strength of the Liberty Party in its former stronghold.

“Today, movements like the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) are all over the country , while Liberty Party leaders are sitting idle. This is the same party people once fought for, but now they are going blind, and no one seems ready to do something about it,” he lamented.

Zeeh concluded by urging Liberty Party supporters not to attack Chairman Tarpeh for his comments but instead to take them as a wake-up call.

Police Launch Manhunt for Notorious Criminal in Grand Bassa County

April 11, 2025

By: Alexander Musa

Buchanan, Grand Bassa County – Authorities in Grand Bassa County have launched an intensive manhunt for a notorious criminal identified as Prince Wilson, alias ERU. The fugitive is said to be involved in a string of serious criminal activities, prompting local police to issue an alert to the public.

In a statement on Friday April 11,2025, the Grand Bassa County Police Commander William Johnson called on residents to assist in locating Wilson and announced a reward of 5,000 Liberian dollars for any credible information leading to his arrest.

“We are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings or suspicious activity related to this individual. Your cooperation is vital to ensuring the safety of our communities,” said the police boss.

Prince Wilson, known in the streets as "ERU," is reportedly linked to multiple incidents, though the police did not disclose specific charges at this time. His nickname has sparked fear in certain communities due to his alleged past encounters with law enforcement.

Residents are advised not to approach Wilson if seen, but instead to immediately contact the nearest police station.

Johnson further explained that ERU is a terrible criminal who has committed several crimes ranging from robbery, theft amongst others. ERU was among 24 pre-trial detainees who were set free by the 2nd Judicial Circuit Court on Monday November 11, 2024.

During their release, the Resident Judge of the Circuit Court Joe S. Barkon said that detainees overstayed in prison without trial, something he says was a violation against the detainees human right.

He sited Section 18.2 of the Criminal Procedure Law of Liberia, which mandates timely trials for detainees.

Commander Johnson said since the release of the notorious criminal, Buchanan City has been under threat with everyone pointing accusing fingers at Prince Wilson (ERU).

As the manhunt intensifies, police have promised to ensure the safety and confidentiality of any informants.

Anyone with information is urged to visit the Grand Bassa County Police headquarters in Buchanan.
