The ROGUE REGIME of Boakai is not serious about fighting corruption. Everything we see in the MODADGATE is a sham. This is a smokescreen to divert our attention from his many futile travels, poor leadership, and inability to undertake serious initiatives in 9 months.
Another reason could be that Boakai is angry because he didn't have the chance to personally benefit from Modad's loot. We can agree with this reason. Because who will leave a $500k corruption scandal and focus only on a $96k? To do that is a strong indication that he is complicit in the cover-up. It is alleged that he received his share from the former as opposed to the latter.
Right before our eyes, the head of NASCORPS, Mr. DeWitt Vonballmose, without remorse, conspired with Boakai's Ministry of State, Sylvester Gribspy, to take pensioners' money in the tone of $500k to buy luxurious cars. Their action violated our PFMs and PPCC laws. But Boakai didn't care, so nothing came out of that.
Even some members of the National Legislature, including the chair of the Public Account Committee, complained and recommended that action be taken, but to no avail. Boakai deliberately played deaf ears to citizens" call for the dismissal of DeWitt Vonballmose. This guy and his comptroller continue to steal millions on the sweet of poor workers, but they keep enjoying the confidence of Mr. Boakai.
The deliberate refusal of Boakai to take action implicates him in their loot. He is compromised because NASCORPS has become a loose money stream for the first family. The NASCORPS money is used to fund Boakai's new G-unit lifestyle. Through that, his family gets the latest SUVS and designer clothing, makes fruitless trips abroad, and logs at expensive resorts.
Now that Mr.Boakai has become a partner in crime, DeWitt Vonballmose doesn't care anymore. This man runs NASCORPS anyhow, like his personal property. They are arrogantly siphoning our parents's retirement benefits. Old forks who spent their entire lives laboring on plantations, mines, etc., thinking that they were saving for the rainy days, cannot have access to their just benefit. But DeWitt can wire millions of dollars in offshore accounts, buy luxurious properties abroad, and live a flashy life. Our people are left to wallop and gallop in hopelessness and frustration. They work while the NASCORPS boss and buddies eat to their benefit.
Their retirement benefit is now a fantasy. Despite enormous material richness that has the potential to spur a significant turnaround, the nation is currently stuck in a state of extreme poverty, high unemployment, and backwardness. Hundreds of our people are dying from curable diseases. Young guys have turned to drugs and criminality, and their sisters have turned to prostitution. Single Mothers hardly have enough food to feed themselves and their kids. Because they are unable to pay their tuition, students are leaving school early.
Amid these catastrophes, individuals like Vonballmose are primarily concerned with protecting their jobs by throwing money among rotten apples in the executive, including the first family. Like Modad, DeWitt must resign and be prosecuted. We are calling on all Liberians to demand the immediate dismissal of the NASCORPS boss.
