Government of Liberia Submits US$1.2 Billion Draft National Budget for 2026 to Legislature
Monrovia, Liberia – November 7, 2025:
The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), has formally presented to the National Legislature the draft 2026 National Budget, amounting to US$1.2 billion.
According to the Ministry, the proposed budget outlines the government’s fiscal priorities for the 2026 financial year, focusing on economic stability, infrastructure development, job creation, and improved social services. The submission marks the beginning of legislative scrutiny, during which lawmakers will review and debate the proposed allocations before passage into law.
The Ministry of Finance emphasized that the 2026 budget is designed to strengthen transparency, accountability, and prudent financial management while ensuring that national resources are directed toward programs that drive sustainable growth and reduce poverty.
Once approved, the budget will guide government spending and revenue collection across all sectors for the upcoming fiscal year.
