GSA Tells Staff How to Dress as reflected in the attached memo, but staff raise alarm: “This is distraction”
“No bushy bear.
No busy hair.
No sleeveless blouse.
No tight jeans.
No short dress.
No track suit. No short skirt. Etc.”
Staff Response 👇
“Response to the GSA Dress Code Memorandum
Fellow Liberians,
We must ask ourselves: did we elect leaders to regulate slippers, trousers, bushy bear and hairstyles, or did we elect them to change our livelihoods and add value to our lives?
At a time when our people are crying for jobs, struggling with high cost of living, seeking better healthcare, and praying for quality education, is this what leadership has been reduced to—policing how employees and visitors dress? Instead of focusing on policies that empower and uplift, we are handed a list that condemns dreadlocks, bushy bear, hair, jeans, and even tracksuits.
This is not governance. This is a distraction. True leadership is measured by the opportunities you create, the lives you touch, and the dignity you restore to the people—not by the clothes people wear when they walk through your gate.
We will not accept a Liberia where leaders focus on appearances while ignoring the real issues that matter to the masses. We remind those in authority: we did not elect you to police fashion, we elected you to transform lives.
The people deserve leadership that builds, not leadership that dictates. We need policies that feed our families, create jobs for our youth, empower women, and bring light to our homes—not policies that discriminate against hair and clothing.
The time has come for our leaders to choose: will you be remembered for changing Liberia, or for banning slippers bushy bear and dreadlocks?
The choice is yours.”
This is a developing story.
