Tragic Migrant Boat Accident Off Libya Leaves Over 70 Missing

‎A devastating incident has occurred in the Mediterranean Sea, where a wooden boat carrying approximately 105 migrants, including children, capsized in waters under Libyan Search and Rescue (SAR) control. The accident has left more than 70 people missing, with only 32 survivors and two bodies recovered so far, according to Mediterranea Saving Humans, a non-governmental organization (NGO).

‎The incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea in search of safety and opportunity. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported that the Central Mediterranean route remains one of the world's deadliest migration corridors, with hundreds of deaths recorded in recent months.

‎The IOM has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and emphasized the need for stronger international cooperation to address the exploitation of migrants by trafficking and smuggling networks.

‎The Students Unification Party (SUP) at Nimba University has strongly condemned Charlotte L. Biah, Financial Secretary for women congress of the ruling Students Liberation Party (SLP), for leaking sensitive internal SLP information to members of the Progressive Students Alliance (PROSA) ahead of the upcoming student elections at Nimba University.

‎SUP says Biah’s actions are an outright betrayal of her own party, a serious breach of trust that threatens the credibility of student leadership. “Charlotte L. Biah has compromised the very foundation of SLP by secretly sharing information meant to strengthen her party. Student politics must never be reduced to spying, secret deals, and betrayal,” the party declared.

‎SUP further revealed that Emmanuel Saye, a member of PROSA, has been involved in executive-level SLP discussions, highlighting the dangerous level of covert coordination and political duplicity exposed by Biah’s leak.
‎The party demands that Charlotte L. Biah immediately cease all communications with rival factions and take responsibility for her actions. Nimba University students deserve leadership rooted in integrity, transparency, and accountability—not backdoor scheming that undermines trust and fairness.

‎With elections fast approaching, SUP reaffirmed its commitment to exposing hypocrisy and defending student interests, making it clear that betrayal from within will not go unnoticed.

Meanwhile, all efforts to get to Charlotte and Emmanuel were all fruitless.

Fake Military Impersonators Busted in Bandersville Junction

The Anti-Robbery Unit of the Liberia National Police (LNP) has arrested and charged two suspects, Shadrach Dingwall and Philip W. D.B. Randy, for impersonating military personnel and committing robbery. The duo was caught on February 15, 2026, wearing military camouflage uniforms and posing as members of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) at Bandersville Junction.

According to police reports, they pepper-sprayed a victim, Frank Roberts, and stole his Bajaj motorbike. Further investigations revealed that the suspects had been terrorizing residents in various communities, using their fake military guise to instill fear.

The accused face charges of robbery, theft of property, impersonating an official, and criminal conspiracy, and have been forwarded to court for prosecution under Liberian law.

GRANDMOTHER CONFESSES TO KILLING GRANDKIDS .

Ma Mary Giah, a 56-year-old woman, has admitted to killing her three grandchildren in Mehnla Town, Nimba County. The victims were Mewaseh Giah, 6, Marvelous Zainsaye, 4, and Alvina Tokpah, 2, children of Marcy Giah, 26.

According to preliminary investigations, Mary claims she was provoked by her daughter's boyfriend, who had been accusing her of witchcraft. "I did it because he kept saying I'm a witch, and I wanted to cut ties with him through my daughter," Mary Giah- told police, revealing she used a knife and blade to commit the crime.

Missing Woman Found in Mehnla Following Children’s Deaths

The woman who reportedly slept in the same house with the three children found dead in District #7, Nimba County, has been located, authorities have confirmed.

The discovery comes minutes after the tragic incident in Mehnla Town sent shockwaves across the community. The woman, believed to be the children’s grandmother and the only adult present in the home at the time of their deaths, had been reported missing shortly after the bodies were discovered.

Details surrounding where and how she was found have not yet been made public. Authorities have not released further information regarding her condition or whether she is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

The Liberia National Police say inquiries into the circumstances of the children’s deaths are continuing as the community awaits more answers.

The alleged suspect has been taken by police for investigation.
