LNP Launches Crackdown on Traffic Violations in Margibi After Deadly August Accidents

KAKATA, Margibi County — The Liberian National Police on Thursday launched a crackdown on traffic violations in Kakata, following a string of fatal accidents in B**g and Margibi Counties this August.

Police say they are targeting excessive speeding, vehicle overloading, and passengers riding on vehicle rooftops — a practice Chief Superintendent Author Kpannah Jarvay described as "attempted su***de."

Jarvay said violating vehicles will be impounded immediately, with owners required to follow up afterward to reclaim their property. He added that police in Margibi and B**g are working with the Federation of Roads Transport Union of Liberia (FRTUL) leaders across the region to enforce the new safety measures.

LNP Anti-Robbery Unit Arrests 15 Suspected Armed Robbers in Kakata

KAKATA, Margibi County — August 25, 2026: The Liberia National Police (LNP) Anti-Robbery Unit has arrested 15 suspects in connection with a reported increase in armed robbery, violence, and property-related crimes in Kakata, Margibi County.

The suspects, identified as Daniel Sackie, Osmane Barry, Leroy Kango, Solomon Bengar, Prince Dennis, Ezekiel Mulbah, Soto Dortey, Richard Binda, Sylvester Korpah, Amara Sheriff, Taissy Kamara, Emmanuel Flomo, Eddison Paye, Markson Nyone, and Mary Beyan, have reportedly been transferred to LNP Headquarters in Monrovia for further investigation.

Police are urging residents to cooperate with law enforcement by providing credible information about suspected criminal activities and avoiding actions that could assist or harbor individuals wanted by authorities.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further details are expected as police proceed with the case.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.

Six Liberians reportedly deported from the United States to Liberia last week allegedly refused to get off the plane after landing in Monrovia.😭😂

According to reports, the six were later sent to Equatorial Guinea, another African country said to have a deportation agreement with the Trump administration.
