Senator Snowe departs Liberia today, for Guinea; on official ECOWAS Parliament's mission.

Bomi County Senior Senator, Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr., has been nominated to represent the ECOWAS Parliament for the Presidential Inauguration of President-elect, His Excellency General Mamady Doumbouya, of the Republic of Guinea.

The Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Conakry, Guinea.

Sen. Snowe leads the Parliament's Political Affairs, Peace, Security and African Peer Review Mechanism Committee and Leader of the Liberian delegation.

All Is Set!

Bomi County Senior Senator, Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr., will on Wednesday, January 21, 2025, officially present and publish his 2025 Legislative and Community Engagement Year-End Report. The event will take place in Tubmanburg, at the C. H. Dewey Main Campus Auditorium.

The program will bring together high schools across Bomi County, civil society organizations, marketers, motorcyclists and drivers’ unions; representatives of the Christian and Muslim communities, members of the media, as well as other key stakeholders.

The report will highlight the Senator’s major legislative initiatives, policy interventions, and community engagements, following the conclusion of the second session of the 55th Legislature of the Republic of Liberia.

Regional Update:

The Head of Liberia's Parliamentary Delegation to the ECOWAS Parliament, Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr., has challenged member countries to pattern their democracies after Liberia.

The Bomi County Senator informed colleagues that he as a ranking opposition figure can "deal with the government," and the "government can go on their platforms and deal with me too," but that they do not jail him for his criticisms expressed.

Senator Snowe argued that allowing democracy to play out in such ways without cracking down on opposition parties and preventing them from running in elections could reduce incidents of coups.

He repeated his urge for ECOWAS to prioritize early warning signals in member countries and address them.

The lawmaker then commended ECOWAS for supporting Liberia's bid for the UN Security Council and the Category A of the International Maritime Organization.

He spoke at the Headquarters of the ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja, Nigeria on Wednesday after some countries, including Liberia, had presented their country reports.
