Story Idea #1: The Woman Who Was Once Declared “Too Smart” to Vote

In the late 1800s, many politicians argued that women shouldn’t vote because education and politics would supposedly damage their health.
One doctor even claimed that too much thinking could “harm a woman’s reproductive system.”

At the same time, women were already:
running farms,
teaching schools,
managing businesses,
and organizing political movements.
The contradiction became impossible to ignore.

What’s interesting is that arguments against women voting weren’t just about politics — they were deeply tied to ideas about gender and what society believed women were “meant” to be.

Today, some of those old ideas still show up in different ways:
who is seen as “emotional,”
who is considered a “natural leader,”
and whose opinions are taken seriously online.

Title: More Than Just a School Girl

​"Blessing is in 9th grade, and she used to be the quietest girl in class. When the boys said girls shouldn't run for student council, she used to just look at the floor. But then she actually read Article 11 of our Constitution.

​She realized the law doesn't care if you're a boy or a girl—it says we are all equal. She walked right into the principal’s office and stood her ground. She didn't just win a seat on the council; she realized that her voice has power.

​When we teach our girls the law, we aren't just giving them facts. We are giving them a shield."

I would like us to look at the difference between GENDER AND S*X.

S*x refers to the physical and biological aspects of an individual, which make someone biologically male or female, such as chromosomes, hormones, and reproductive anatomy. S*x is typically assigned at birth. We can be assigned as either male or female. While!!
Gender on the other hand referred to as the socially constructed roles, expectations, and behaviors that are often ascribed to the different sexes. Gender identity is a personal, internal perception of oneself and is based on socially constructed roles, behaviors, and customs. This is our topic for tonight.
