April 27, 1997 - The last time Liberia played away to Tunisia in a FIFA World Cup qualifier. Liberia lost 2-0 in the second leg in Tunis after losing 1-0 at home. Adel Sellimi and Khaled Badra got the goals for the Tunisia.

Today, the two countries will meet in Tunis again for the second leg of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

This sets a pay floor for Liberian players, ensuring no one receives less than this amount .

To put this into perspective, let's look at the salaries in Ghana's Premier League. According to reports, some players in Ghana earn as little as GH₵300 (approximately $50-$60 USD) per month. Top players at Hearts of Oak, a prominent Ghanaian club, can earn up to $500 per month, while average players receive around $300 .

The minimum salary in professional sports leagues aims to:

A win for Liberia tomorrow takes them to 2nd place in Group H, thereby securing themselves a place among the top four of Africa’s version of the Second-Placed Teams table. However, how long they stay among the big four depends on the results from Senegal, Namibia, Comoros, and Mozambique’s respective games.

In the Second-Placed Teams category, the top four will automatically advance to a play-off, with one team qualifying for the inter-confederation playoff.
