Iran Must Prioritize Its People Over Nuclear Ambitions" — Advocate Solomon Weawea Calls for Diplomatic Engagement

MONROVIA, Liberia — Liberian advocate Solomon Weawea has urged Iran's leadership to abandon what he describes as costly nuclear ambitions and instead focus on improving the welfare of its citizens through diplomacy and socioeconomic development.

In a statement on his official page addressing ongoing tensions surrounding Iran's nuclear program, Weawea argued that decades of international pressure, particularly from the United States, have been aimed at encouraging Iran to pursue peaceful diplomatic relations with its neighbors rather than advancing its nuclear capabilities.

"The Iranian people have endured immense suffering as a result of the country's prolonged isolation," Weawea stated. "It is essential for the Iranian leadership and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to place the welfare of their citizens above all other national priorities."

According to him, the pursuit of nuclear development has imposed high economic and social costs on the Iranian population, making it necessary for the country's leaders to reassess their priorities and channel resources toward economic growth, job creation, and national development.

Weawea also highlighted the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical maritime trade routes, stressing that it should not be used as a tool for advancing nationalistic interests or escalating regional tensions.

"The Strait of Hormuz is vital to global commerce and energy security. Its importance should be respected and not leveraged for political or nationalistic purposes," he said.

Calling for a more constructive path forward, Weawea urged Iranian authorities to embrace diplomacy, regional cooperation, and economic reform as the most effective means of securing long-term stability and prosperity for the country.

"It is imperative for Iran's leadership to adopt a more constructive approach. Focusing on diplomacy and socioeconomic progress remains the best way forward for both the nation and its people," he concluded.

Bility Promises Free Education, Healthcare Reforms Under CMC Government

MONROVIA – Citizens' Movement for Change (CMC) Political Leader Musa Hassan Bility has pledged free education from high school through university if his party is elected to lead Liberia in 2029.

Speaking during the induction of Musa S. Kamara as the party's National Vice Chair for Recruitment and Mobilization, Bility said the CMC has the vision and capacity to make higher education accessible to all Liberians without tuition fees.

He also promised to improve healthcare by expanding medical services across the country through a decentralized health system, arguing that many deaths from common illnesses could be prevented with better access to care.

Bility further called for mandatory political debates to strengthen accountability and issue-based campaigns, while noting that the CMC is increasing grassroots engagement as it prepares for the 2029 elections.

Nimba Police Destroy 50+ MP3 Players to Curb Noise Pollution

Ganta, Nimba County – Police in Nimba County have burned over 50 MP3 players seized from commercial motorcyclists as part of a crackdown on noise pollution and to safeguard public safety.

The destruction took place at the Ganta Police Detail. Nimba County Police Commander ACP Larmie Mendin said the operation began days ago to control excessive noise from motorcyclists. He noted that officers first carried out public awareness campaigns to educate riders and residents on the dangers and disturbances of noise pollution before making arrests and confiscations.

Commander Mendin warned that the campaign will continue until the problem is under control and that anyone violating the regulation will face similar action. He added that the Liberia National Police remains committed to maintaining peace, order, and public safety across Nimba County.

Weawea Condemns Kolubah Expulsion, Calls for Legislative Reform

The Executive Director of the Liberia National Heritage and Culture Development Association (LNHCDA), Solomon Weawea, is once again speaking out against the expulsion of Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah.

In a statement shared on social media, Weawea said the punishment handed down to Kolubah was excessive and failed to address the broader national debate surrounding the matter.

“We must focus on the primary issue at hand — the national debate. The expulsion of Yekeh Kolubah, an elected government official, is not a prudent decision. A less severe disciplinary measure would have been more suitable,” Weawea stated.

He acknowledged that Kolubah’s comments were inappropriate for a national leader but argued that they did not justify such a harsh penalty. According to him, the situation was comparable to “speaking out of turn,” noting that Kolubah would have been protected had the remarks been made during plenary proceedings.

Weawea also called on the Legislature to organize leadership workshops aimed at improving dialogue and strengthening cooperation among lawmakers. “We urge the Legislature to hold leadership workshops to brainstorm on issues, so individuals can learn from one another.

God bless Liberia,” he added.
Representative Kolubah was expelled earlier this year following controversial remarks linked to the Liberia-Guinea border issue.

The complaint against him was filed by Montserrado County District #3 Representative Sumo Mulbah and Liberia National Police Inspector General Gregory O. W. Coleman, who cited concerns over national security and public safety.

Kolubah had requested additional time to secure legal representation but was reportedly granted only two days. The Supreme Court later scheduled a conference with House leadership on April 20, 2026, to hear his petition for a writ of prohibition.

Prominent Liberian figures, including Senator Abraham Darius Dillon and former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, have also expressed concerns over the expulsion, arguing that the decision raises questions about due process and freedom of expression.
